Compliance is a great field to enter. It's becoming more and more valuable and will dominate in the future. I've done work in the compliance sector.
You are being underpaid. If you have any credentials (CRCM, MBA, JD, etc.) you are being taken advantage of. You should be able to get a decent compliance role with any bank/FinTech with 5 years of experience making at least 75k a year. That being said, AmEx is a big player in the space, so make sure you’re not pigeon-holed into a speciality and don’t realize it. (Focused on fair lending but don’t touch SCRA, Reg Z, CCPA, etc.) Big companies want SMEs, small companies want generalists.
I don’t have any certifications yet. This is my first “real” Compliance role but have decided recently to work on obtaining my CRCM. I figure I can land a higher paying role in the meantime as the CRCM will take some time. I really appreciate your feedback!
right with you been in the industry 5 years 52k super underpaid
