Working at Deloitte for the past 1.5 years, had joined straight from undergrad. I’m currently aligned to GRC and Cyber Strategy. The experience so far has been great and I have excelled at performance reviews, and have formed great relationships within the team. I recently got an opportunity to join Accenture, which is a 50% pay increase. I’d love to get some views on Accenture vs Deloitte, I’m looking at the following points when evaluating: 1. Project Quality and Variety 2. Culture 3. Growth
If you are up for promo this year factor in the promo and raise as part of your calculation. Also determine when your eligibility will be for Accenture for next raise and bonus. Lot of orgs you may not be eligible first round so you could be going 1.5 years for example on the increase which would be two pay cycles here. Granted more money now is better than later. But factor that in. Also factor how strong you’ve been here. Especially if consulting is a more long term play. I hit every early promo because of the network and brand I’ve built and that is worth a ton. More now than it is early in career like you. And if I had jumped I may not be where I am today level wise and that gives me more options and exits. I would look at where you’d be in 3 years at D and where you’d be 3 years at A and compare. Look at comp, benefits, career trajectory, type of projects etc. Unless I’d be making quite a bit more and have way better opportunity I don’t take the offer. Happy to talk more. Security is our fastest growing group. A lot of opportunity. Projects - like everywhere - are YMMV. I’ve met some really wonderful people who are part of security. From everything I’ve heard D vs ACN is just 2 horses of a different color.

Joining cyber strat? What level? L10? (Sr analyst) or L9 (consultant)?
You’ll be leaping over all your peers. The promo backlog here is rough right now. I’m sure that will get straightened out eventually but… the culture here is so mixed. You’ll see lots of bright spots and then you’ll see people that get put on the “never again” list. Our cyber Strat biz is growing quickly and new leadership at the helm this year. There is a lot of room as a sharp SA to excel and grow. If it were me, I’d take the leap. :) (I say as someone who has never leapt from accenture despite the downs… lol)
