Also, sometimes you need to flatter this type of personality. As gross as it feels, look for opportunities to compliment them. I also like to use the “I don’t disagree, but” when I need to present an alternative.
an effective job at relaying and reinforcing the expectations and standards around communications for their team. The manager themselves is often yelling, condescending, and disrespectful to other people, so it makes sense that their team would employ the same communications. How do you all deal with this type of thing? I am attempting to be empathy-led in my approach.
Not saying that this is the case but I’ve seen where people sometimes act differently with other people.
Have you seen this attitude displayed with other people or only you?
Do you feel that you could possibly treat them differently causing them to be defensive?
How is your feedback delivery?
Not saying it’s you but if you are the only one giving negative feedback to them, it could honestly be just your relationship with this person.
Did you get off on the wrong foot? Is there a way to restart the relationship so that there isn’t this unhealthy dynamic?
I would just step away from the scenario and really try to figure out the root of the problem because it sounds like it goes deeper than you think.
