Would you rather work with someone who a) works full time (aka 24/7) but here and there isn’t available for calls due to childcare, like after 530, but still responds to pings and can be available for calls after 9 or b) someone on a part time schedule, say 80 or 60% who logs off at 3 everyday and doesn’t log back on until after the kids are down around 9pm?

Exceptions for early morning or evening calls made in both cases (I.e. 7am international call or something urgent or likewise 7pm).

Do you have kids? It’s hard to get 12 billable hours in with a toddler at home. If I have to get on at 4:45 am and work to 5:30, and can take calls at 9pm, that is all you should ask for. If you want more you are out of touch.

Sorry I am not following your comment but I have never been on at 445 and don’t plan to lol. I do take late calls though, usually those are attributed to time zone flexibility

Most of the senior managers in my office are in the first bucket and I love working with them, and they are also highly appreciated by PPMDs. But your mileage might very in your own org.

Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.

Given all the recent buzz about expected large raises around the big 4, I’d like to level set on the average salary for a 4th/5th year female senior manager in federal tax ( credits & methods group) in the Midwest - Chicago/Minneapolis/Detroit market. Anyone willing to share a range if they work in a similar area of tax / similar level? I recognize all groups vary greatly in salary expectations, so looking for input specific to my area. Current expectations set at 140-160k. Reasonable?

I’m having trouble working in Tax. I’m overwhelmed and am feeling like I’m not producing my best work. Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?
