You guys have any tips for staying focused on something really, really boring? It’s a fairly longterm & independent initiative, my usual tricks aren’t working and I’m starting to fall behind. I asked for more support but was told no budget. Taking my meds as prescribed. Anything helps

Make it less independent to hold yourself accountable. Ask for check ins, integrate it into mentorship conversations, schedule readouts every couple of weeks. This way you’re breaking it into smaller pieces with deadlines so it feels less long term and you’ll make it less boring with the additional checkins.

What makes the task boring? Can you automate it with AI? Delegate some of it?

One thing that helps me is breaking the task into smaller chunks and setting timers (like the Pomodoro technique). Even just celebrating small wins can make it feel more manageable. If possible, try to get a change of scenery during breaks, it can really reset your focus!

If it’s something really long and I find myself struggling more than usual to get through. I do the break it into chunks, but also number each one. So like assigning point values. After a certain amount of points I can take a break for a few or something like that.

Ooof if your meds aren't doing the trick is it time to go up on your dosage? Typically when I take my meds I am able to focus on anything, even if it is super boring.

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 31 and found this only because b school and post mba consulting job was/is much more challenging than anything I did before. What I'm confused about is that even as a teenager I could read entire books overnight. But the last two years of high school I started selectively zoning out and the problem has become worse since. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)

Hello All - I struggle with time management. I take medication but I have no idea whether a task will take 40 mins or 4 hours. Because of this, I over commit and under deliver. Also, having been on the receiving end of criticism, over time I have developed a perfectionist streak. I won't turn it in if it is good enough. How do you break out of this habit?

Any resources to help the brain structure tasks and make better estimates? Much appreciated, thanks!
