They are normal and do not let anyone tell you otherwise. They are valid. Our work because a large part of who we are and our daily routine. Once it is gone it's apart of the routine that is missing. When we introduce ourselves we often include what we do as apart of who we are.
I can say take time, if you are able to, to reset and relax. I know that when I was fired it took time to find something that would provide me with a decent pay and benefits. It is actually how I ended up working in insurance.
I think those are valid feelings. You don’t realize how much of your life is centered around your work even if it’s subconsciously. Suddenly being thrown out of that routine/schedule really throws everything off. Plus I’m sure it potentially triggers other insecurities.
My advice would be to get back on a schedule even if that’s just setting your alarm to wake up at a certain time and schedule parts of your day out to do different things.
If you are able to take some time to reflect and feel what you’re feeling before you jump into job searching since that will help out in your next role by not holding any grudges or resentment.
It depends on the person, but being fired (not laid off or quitting) can be especially traumatic.
You will want to think about the reasons you got fired and decide how you’re going to change your work strategy going forward. Was it something you could have done better? Do you need a career change? Once you address the reasons you got fired and you decide on a way forward you may be able to let go of some of the depression.
