Fellow 🐠, how much of a salary cut would you be willing to take to move from your current role to an industry job that feels more personally fulfilling?
What are your thoughts on a control analyst position? Are the hours terrible like audit (10 to 11 hour days)?
I feel jerked around by my team, as they keep telling me I will be promoted/have more responsibility, every few months. When I follow up, I am usually told, “but you have more responsibility now; no need to make it official”. Not sure what to believe any longer. They said they have put forward a case for my promotion now. I want to believe them this time but feel like a fool when I think back to some of the earlier conversations. Should I bring those conversations up, or just smile and saythanks
Compensation range for Corporate VC Senior Associate, and at Greylock? Applying with 2 years of VC at a Midcap, and 2 years of MBB under my belt.
I know I posted 3 wks ago about house #4. But a week later I got the inspection report & it was a no go. Lesson learned. But this house I AM buying. I close in about 2 wks. 1st column: The #s w/current tenant till June. We won't renew the lease. Instead we'll rehab the inside; ~$7k, then raise the rent to match the market. Using coulmn #2, total monthly cashflow of all homes is $1,186mo. Initial goal is $20.5K/$1,708 mo. Almost there! If we can rent it for $1.1Kmo (column 3)...AWESOME!
I’ve seen a lot of posts on twitter that have a ton of rts blaming the police for criminalizing homelessness and drug addiction instead of fixing the problem...so basically the police are now the scapegoats for elected officials and prosecutors? Police brutality is on police, but blaming the police for the penal code and how much it’s enforced seems like a bs way for politicians and attorneys/judges to ignore their role and blame police for following their orders. We gotta own up to our part.
I know my role is to guide/mentor, but I get irritated watching certain creatives gloat over killer work, knowing I had to redo 95% of it b/c they couldn’t take direction & it was originally my idea
Huron 🐟. I'm interested in a project manager position that isn't offered in my local office. If I apply, will I be expected to relocate or is it flexible?
Getting ready to sign my contract and raise my right hand for National Guard. I have yet to tell my manager out of fear they try to let me go before I am “officially” in service.
Hi Fishes, I have an interview next week for a Client Partnerships Manager role at a large entertainment company. I've never actually done a role like this. The focus would be a client partner for Tech, QSR & Finance clients. Can you all provide any insight or tips into this role whether you've done it or partnered with someone who has. Also, what do you consider the media & marketing process to be? And is QSR mean quick service restaurant. I come from the CPG & sale world. Thanks for any input.
Exit opps for hr due diligence folks?
Hi Guys, can anyone tell me when does a promotion take effect (officially) for PwC SDC Bangalore?
Looking for relevant market data, as most public salary information is from recruiting firms and is inflataed to a certain degree.... Salary as a senior manager in the first and second year, please include bonus separately, preferably Midwest to adjust for COL... wondering how bad this number really is before I look to bail
Went from wanting to only focus on my career and not even wanting kids to now wanting to be a SAHM while I raise kids and go back into a more relaxed job. Has anyone else had a crazy shift in thinking like that? Been single this whole time, so no one is influenting this
Looking for advice on the next step. So I started at my company just over 2 years ago as an entry level Sales admin with a split role and at the beginning of this year I moved fully into Sales Support and I'm kind of at a point where I coordinate and support the activity of my team, I fully process all orders and manage/maintain our CRM system, provide monthly & quarterly reports for our senior management team. Is this it? Am I at the top end of this role and need to ask for more progression?
Have you ever run into a situation where you asked for more money (either a raise or when negotiating an offer) and you got it and regretted it? What are the strings attached to more $?
How should I start a conversation with my boss about a promotion? What things should I bring up as evidence that I'm not only consistently hitting - but surpassing - my performance goals and targets?
Manager 1. Transfer from audit into FDD (and have to do one more busy season in audit), or leave to a financial reporting job at a large public co for 40% raise?
I’m from one of the world’s most underdeveloped countries in Africa and all I want to do is leave. People keep telling me to stay and make it better and while I do agree to that in principle, at every single level, public or private, everyone here is either corrupt or incompetent. If I stay I’d just be harming myself and not helping anyone. Worst part is that there’s not a single PM role here, so when my overseas contract runs out I might be in a tough spot. Just wanted to get it off my chest
Advice on taking and passing the SPHR exam?
Does anyone else find it difficult to ask for time off? I haven’t taken a “vacation day” since February, billed 185+ hour months consistently through the pandemic (exceeded hours for 2020 bonus eligibility), and am feeling pretty burnt out. It’s hard because other associates in my department haven’t really taken any time off either (or it has been a day or two sporadically). Would really love to take some days over Christmas to recharge but I’m nervous about perception.
Not proud of it, but I was hooking up with a co-worker/friend pre-COVID. I left the state when wfh started and we still talk every day, but nothing romantic. He made it clear at the beginning that he didn’t want to date because we’re co-workers. Stung a bit when I went on a dating app this morning and saw his profile. The rational part of me knows we’re only ever going to be buddies and that if he actually wanted me, then he’d make something happen. Looking for advice on how to get over this.
New to KPMG- out of town at a client, how does claiming a per diem work? I've just been buying my meals with my corporate card
Hypothetical: H or S (or maybe Wharton for those counter culture/fuck the patriarchy few) and why?
Will rerecruiting for MBB (and essentially restarting/grinding case prep and such) when I have a T2 pretty locked in just be indulging an unhealthy obsession with prestige? Struggling with whether or not it’s objectively worth it, as someone who has fallen into “prestige traps” in the past.
For MBB interviews, what is a good gauge to expect for quantitative complexity? The case study books all have cases ranging in complexity from easy to hard, but not sure if I’ll get absolutely floored by the real interview
I'm hitting my personal lowest. I'm taking vacation next week to just "be at home" and don't answer emails. I am on local project but pretty burned out so really all I want to do is anything but work.
Has anyone made the move to another B4 as a Manager or young SM to make partner/excel at that new firm? Wondering if the internal network is worth more than a 50% raise at a competing B4.
So I've had multiple interviews at a NY agency for an account role. Spoken with the President but felt I didn't do as well as I could. Maybe a bit long winded in parts of my response. The whole vid..
Idk if its a generational thing but I hate when people at work call my cell unexpectedly. Can’t we just set up a zoom call?
Does ZS update new hires when background check is complete? I submitted mine 12 days ago and haven't heard back about it. But my signing bonus was processed and my start date is in less than 2 weeks and I need to update my employer... what do I do?
Do the breadth of exit opportunities in industry start to diminish after reaching manager at big four? I have this preconception that leaving as a manager will be harder than as a senior but no idea if true or not.
I will never get sick of listening to teams explaining pop culture to clients who don’t pay attention to pop culture. “Ok well the Jonas Brothers are a band, but also brothers..."
Anyone here Sr Mgr / Director worked for both Deloitte and KPMG willing to share main differences in your experience and in firm culture?
In your experience, do any agencies foster a culture of mentorship? Meaning mentorship is encouraged, celebrated, and incentivized? So many have mentorship programs that go unused, but I’m curious if there are any agencies that bake it into their culture.
