Does anyone have any thoughts/info on Day Pitney? Culture? Comp? I have an interview coming up and can't find any info beyond their website and comp figures from 2013. Thanks!
What training or guidance are you giving managers at your firms about managing hybrid teams? There is a lot out there on remote teams, but a lot of us are going back three days a week which means people at home and people in the room. Any tips to pass on?
If you are feeling sick or something during the day and WFH, do you feel comfortable napping it off and then getting back to work and working late if needed? I have friends that say this is totally normal and okay but I feel weird about it and can never actually rest to feel better if I do lay down
Looking for ideas on how other companies are celebrating and recognizing diversity holidays like LGBT pride month Juneteenth black history month women’s history month etc.Not just days off
Can anyone recommend a certificate or course that is actually useful for developing professionals and/or reviewing performance? I don’t want/need something that is just a credential, I’m actually looking to get some formal grounding in these two topics so I can overhaul processes at my consulting firm. Thanks for your advice!!!
How much nonbillable time is too much? I’m a second associate at a midsized firm and I have 30-50 non billable hours each month. An associate at another firm told me this was really high. Thoughts?
Anyone have any hot takes on life as a transactional associate at Gibson Dunn? Bonus points if you have any insights into their real estate group.
Finding it hard to continue as an attorney after 10 years as a very happy litigator doing insurance defense work including trials. Courts have been closed for over a year (I practice in NYC) and it does not look like I’ll ever have the lifestyle I once had and loved, going to court and depositions every day. Billable hours seem impossible without court and life has just gotten so gravely boring. Anyone else feeling lost? I’ve spent the entire last year trying to figure out where to go from here
Any foreign attorneys feeling lost while working towards their master’s of law in US and working towards getting bar admission? Being an Indian-trained attorney, I still await to sit for bar (this year delay pandemic) but always curious about how things turn out for other foreign attorneys here on F1 visa.
Gave my two weeks yesterday and the case transition will be completed within a few days. Do I stay the full two weeks even though I won’t have more than 2-4 hours to bill a day (if I stretch it out)? Advice on what to do.
So, I'm really curious, for those of us who aren't essential workers, how are you handling return to work? Phases? 50% capacity? Self Identifying disclosures? Sanitization stations?
Anyone been fired for low performance as a young lawyer? How did you deal with it and move on?
Curious about non-US attorneys: are you working the crazy hour weeks most of us in the US do? Or are your weeks closer to 40 hours? I hear a lot about the working hour caps, vacation requirements, etc in Europe/Canada. Curious if that flows into legal practice... or if it gets ignored. To clarify—I’m talking about BigLaw. I’m sure there are smaller firms with reasonable hours, the same exists in the US.
Any tips on how best to draft an email asking for work from a partner who I haven’t worked with and who doesn’t know me? I’d like to get on their matters and want to craft an email that would actually get them to respond and be interested in giving me the work (as opposed to just acknowledging my interest and forgetting about it the next day).
I know this isn’t a job board but what the heck...anyone’s firm hiring remote securities attorneys? Older second year associate with 5 years of pre- law school and 5 years post-law school prior relevant experience. Most recently 1.5 years of traditional cap markets/securities law experience.
Is reading through Fishbowl billable time?
Can we stop attaching unpublished cases yet?
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
Does anyone have children with birthdays in the summer? My daughter’s birthday is right around the 4th of July so that’s what we were originally going to have a party, but I don’t know if I want a gathering of people at my house. It’s her first birthday and I feel like a failure if we do a zoom party, but I want her to be safe too. I also have no clue what it’s going to be like in July to decide on it now, but want to send the invites soon and tell people
If the printer you selected to print to is listed as “offline” (I assume the server), is your document stored in a queue and it’ll print later or is it lost? Trying to avoid blowing up client printer.
PDX: I’m in an unhealthy agency & it’s finally become unsafe for me w/ HR. Would a person who has navigated racial weirdness in this town be willing to let me take you out to coffee + chat for a bit?
Recent graduate interning at a WPP agency in NYC. How much should I be negotiating for full-time? Glassdoor says average JR AD salary for NYC is $58k but my agency’s average salary is lower. Thxs
Should I take a pay cut for a job I am excited about? If I stay in consulting I’ll be in a post mba role (~160k+20k bonus) starting next fall vs new job which would be ~120k all in. New job would be great for networking and I’d learn a lot but I’m thrown off by comp drop. I’m 25 with no major expenses so know I can make this work but dont think my male friends (and many female friends) would feel comfortable with the comp change.
Have you tried the baby carrier minimeis? The one where you carry the kid on your shoulders? Any thoughts?

In conversations with D. Relative to PwC, is the culture at Deloitte really that obnoxious? Are the hours significantly worse at the C / SC levels? Looking at their Finance S&O group.

HR professionals- are you requiring a negative test before any employees return to work after COVID? Some had very mild symptoms and one was asymptomatic. I’ve read not to push for a Dr.’s note and some people can still be positive yet not contagious. Right now I’m following the cdc guidelines of 10 days from first symptom, fever free for 24 hrs and improvement of symptoms.
