I am a federal government attorney (DOJ) with 2.5 years of litigation and bankruptcy experience. I want to break into tech companies/finance and apply for jobs @ Google, Robinhood, etc. Does anyone have any connections I can leverage?

How often do temporary "might-become-permanent" type jobs (at small/mid size firms) actually become permanent?

Layoffs. Most big firms say they're sitting on a conservative pile of cash - which I believe is true - but work will obviously not return to pre-COVID levels in the short term, probably not even in the medium term. Are Biglaw layoffs coming?

Advice on managing up / enduring toxic deal teams? I’m at the point where my stomach drops any time I see something come in from certain people. Everything is behind, client is unhappy, I’m exhausted and simultaneously being micromanaged without guidance on big-picture/substantive issues. I keep trying to tell myself at least this is consulting and the project will be over... eventually...

Is there an appropriate way to turn down an assignment because it is non-billable? Two of the partners I work for keep asking me to write client bulletins and articles with them, which is great, but now I’m starting to worry about meeting my billable hours requirement.

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.

Looking to get into SaaS sales but my experience is in construction and fine furniture (I was a sales manager and was able to lead my team of 4 people to consistently hit 450k monthly targets). Starting us off with an important tip: Your resume is a marketing document, not an autobiography. It should include relevant jobs, responsibilities, and perhaps most importantly, achievements. Where you can quantify an accomplishment or just talk up a major project you led at work or in an internship, do so. The point is to make the hiring manager think, “Wow, I need to talk to this person! They seem like a good fit!”

my DOJ & Notice period is conflicting by 5 days. None of the party agreeing to adjust.

New Employer (Oracle) mentioned that his budget will expire by May 31 so cloudn't shift the DOJ.

What should I do now ?

I accepted an offer from Cognizant for a consultant position a little less than a month ago. My joining date is 5th September and I would need visa sponsorship. I have completed my pre joining formalities and background verification. The thing is I haven’t heard from HR in a while and no update as yet on visa sponsorship process. Should I be worried?
