I’d do a lot of informational interviews with Bain alumni who followed paths you’re considering. You could ask them about their reasons for changing, how they made the change, tips on how to land the job from b school, how their consulting experience was useful, etc.
Is there anything at Bain that you enjoyed doing specifically? What are must haves and things you definitely don’t want in your next career?
What did you write down as your goals after bschool on your app?
I said startup, but not 100% sure I will follow through with it. That was more to take a stance for the sake of my apps
I liked the critical/strategic thinking aspect of the job but honestly just hated the hours, pressure, and constant need for perfection. VC seems attractive but don't know much about the path to get there. Open to cool strategic corporate/startup roles, but want to make sure I have a strong upward career trajectory.
If you hate that then you should probably avoid PE
