OK. I've received two job offers. One offer is 20% less than the other, but the lower-paying job seems far more interesting and provides a better lifestyle. What would you do?
Good morning, I work for Solugenix placing top notch candidates at companies throughout the US. I just started at Solugenix so anyone who needs any assistance either finding a job or looking for candidates please let me know. Thanks and have a great day.
I graduated with my bachelor's in HRM and I'm wondering if there are any certifications or trainings I could do before I lock down on the SHRM-CP. I recently became HIPAA certified for my company and that got me thinking about what else I could do to add to my resume. Looking for good stepping stone certificates.
Has anyone taken an exam remotely? (SIE, Series 7, Series 66, etc...) if so, how was it? - Did you feel more comfortable being in the comfort of your own home? Or freaked out that you know there is someone out there staring at you through your laptop camera?
If Obama has swagger, what does Trump have?

Strategy when starting at a new firm: Voicing opinions and asking questions from the start or taking a step back and listening for the first few months?

Trying to understand what everyone is doing wrt childcare these days? We haven’t sent our 4yo to daycare since the pandemic started since we have no family/friends here even to help if we contracted Covid. Been playing extra extra safe. Bay Area Covid stats don’t inspire confidence either. What are you all doing?
Any tips for maximizing parental leave? Any suggestions on logistics, benefits, perks, etc. much appreciated. Intentionally not posting in EY bowl so can get a sense for what more have done.
Can we make a confession thread? Something we’re not proud of but it’s who we are lol Here’s mine: I can be shallow and materialistic. A lot of the times 🙄
For those recently laid off, what are you doing for healthcare coverage now? Just got my COBRA offer/extension letter and was floored to see the cost. So far I’ve only looked at covered California at the suggestion of a friend but at a glance the plans don’t seem substantially better - the monthly savings in premium on those plans is essentially offset by the increased deductible. Do I just suck it up and keep what I had through COBRA and pray I get a job soon? Any suggestions on ways to save?
Question about prenatal care and insurance coverage. I have Aetna Innovation Health which covers prenatal care but have received a few bills from my obgyn—seems like costs were partially covered by insurance but I thought all of normal prenatal care was covered. I’m wondering if it’s because of ultrasounds or specific blood tests I took. Is this normal?
Does anyone have a dashboard or excel template for turnover/attrition where data can be easily “dumped” in for a beautiful display? TIA!
How to transition from being a BA to EM? I’ve completed over 3 yrs, feel like I’m doing great work, and consistently receiving positive feedback (uptil 2nd year I was ahead of the class), yet I’m not getting a clear opportunity to get a managerial role in a project. Am I the only one who has felt I’m a great IC but struggles with the promotion?
Is it appropriate for junior consultants to connect on LinkedIn with senior clients from a project? I’m about to roll off my project and want to keep in touch with these clients given they work in my dream exit job. For context, the client is senior in title but relatively young (mid 30s) so not like retirement aged executive who may find my networking too forward. We had great interactions throughout but no explicit invite to connect on LinkedIn. TIA!
Extension RFE: Lawyers ask for how I split time between client site/home office during M-F and also when I start/end the project. What kind of RFE is this? Is it though to convince USCIS?
If you interview at a past client (different team) do you disclose that you have done work with their company in the past? Is it appropriate to use your past client contact as a referral?
Thinking of trying to lateral from a midsize to big law in the midst of the salary raises. Before doing so, wondering how bad it reallly is for the associates? Are the increases coming because everyone is drowning or what? For context: midlevel, real estate attorney. TIA!
I love my husband but can’t pretend I’m not a bit resentful of us having to wire 1K to his parents every month. If they truly needed it and were trying the best it would be one thing but this is largely bc of poor investment decisions on their part. On the other hand my parents have been prudent and in a position to lend us money. I become all the more bitter given we live closer to his parents and spend more time with them.
I really think all you need to know about the stock market is that you just dollar cost average index funds. If I was a little younger I would tell people to start young and go close to 100 equities. The only concern is a Nikkei bubble in the late 1980s or a depression level event but both seem highly unlikely. Tax benefits of index funds and average annual gains make them most attractive.
How are the in-house attorneys fairing right now? Any layoffs or pay reductions happening like in most firms?
For those of you who have started a new job while WFH: how has it been learning your new role without the benefit of being in person to ask the small questions/ “looking over a shoulder” to see how business is typically conducted? I’m not too concerned about the company culture part of it as everyone is in the same boat, but I’m concerned I will be at a disadvantage starting remote as opposed to my peers that were there a year ago.
