Just freelanced at Upshot ... Stay away / no contracts with shady practices and mass exodus from current staff. Avoid at all cost.
Looking for some insight into the recruiting process. If a req was taken down after I had an interview, does it mean the job was filled? From the moment the hiring manager makes a decision and tells the recruiter, what are next steps before the successful candidate is notified? Do you have to finalize an offer with the comp team?
How long was your last job search? My lease is up in 2 months and I’m looking to time it with starting a new job in L.A. Should I start the job search now or wait a month?
Nelly on an All Hands Zoom call is my last Square on quarantine bingo. Covid-19 can take me now
"You're going to sit around a lot, eat like crap and put on weight." Must have missed that lesson in portfolio school.
1 ACD at a big global agency in bigger ad town, 100% on one national brand OR CD at tiny agency and smaller hometown where you could touch everything and shape the culture and trajectory of shop???
Are you or have you been the sole HR person at the company? What are the pros & cons? I haven’t been, but a recruiter reached out with an opportunity to be one. They currently use the parent company’s HR but are buying themselves out to be a stand alone firm. TIA!
After Googles report on the gender pay gap do you think Ad agencies should do their own to see what discrepancies there are? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2019/03/04/technology/google-gender-pay-gap.amp.html
Those LiMu Emu ads are the bane of my existence 🤬
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
http://www.lindsredding.com/2012/03/11/a-overdue-lesson-in-perspective/ I'm sure many of you have already read this. Came across this post years ago when I first started out. Always relevant.
all Omnicom WPP, and Publicis agencies are mandating work from home. If your boss is mandating you come in, is there any legal recourse? Putting lives in jeopardy?
could you guys share this article? thanks
How long, on average, did it take you to study before you could pass the PHR/SPHR exam? Did you think it was worth it?
Hi everyone! Looking for some guidance on resources you use for benchmarking for workforce planning/DEI specifically in the tech space?
Is this a superficial business where looks are very important to your career and how quickly it progresses? Can personality, talent and work ethic really compensate for the negative halo effect created by an ugly face? Do ugly people ever become leaders in this business (recently)?
Typical career growth timeline in media? Assistant to planner to sup to AMD to Director and up? How many rungs are there? Confusing higher up titles...
Facebook agency The Factory in SF - Anyone with knowledge or experience there care to share? 🤖
Current project leadership is like gorilla glue and won't let people off. How to roll off without doing something that would get you fired?
MFW I turn in all my stuff to Deloitte after getting laid off and the IT guy says "congratulations!" as I'm leaving
RSM Tax - has anyone received promotion announcement yet? I believe the partners were supposed to approve our promotions by May 28th. I wonder if anyone for the good news yet?
Hey fishes, does anyone feel that the concept "Culture of Courage" real? It is more about being courageous to suppress your opinion and blindly follow your leader!
Gave recruiter TC expectations and that there was a gap to cover. Now they want to know how much bonus I'd be walking away from. Feels like they are trying to back into my current comp. How to respond?
Does anybody ever feel like the only thing they’re good at is being an attorney (when the imposter syndrome isn’t in full swing, of course)? I’m having one of those weeks where I feel like I’m a bad wife, I’ll never be a good mother, I’m not in shape, and I’m not as good as I once was at my hobbies due to lack of time. I’ve been trying not to define myself by my career as much, but lately it feels like it’s the only thing I do well…sigh.
I just picked up my 8 week old goldendoodle pup and brought him home 3 hours ago (4pm). He had dinner and had a potty accident before and after dinner. He looks really sad and does not want to interact besides wanting to cuddle up and lay down in my lap. I’m a little worried but also wonder if it’s coz he really hasn’t napped much since the time I picked him up at the breeder at 1pm. Could he be sick? Should I be worried. When I took him outside for potty breaks he just huddled away and sat 😥
Thinking of leaving current firm (MBB). received offers for operating director roles at some innovative companies. base salary/annual bonus is even w/ current, however equity is 100-150k/yr. thoughts?
Hi everyone! Looking to add to my library of business books or self-improvement books! Any suggestions are welcomed, TIA 🙏
I have received an offer for a Sr. AI Consultant at Deloitte in NYC. Could someone in the role or in the AI practice answer some of my questions related to projects, travel and comp increase on promotion. Thanks!
What are the weirdest reasons you have heard for people being laid-off? Heard someone getting laid off because of submitting wack expenses.
Is it weird to reach out to a recruiter/HR person from a company? I applied to a job at a company that I really like and seem to be a great fit for the role. However, I’ve not heard back and the role is still posted on their site more than 2 months later. I googled for a recruiter from the company and came across the “talent acquisition partner” on LinkedIn. Is it super weird to send her a message? I don’t know how this whole networking thing is supposed to work.
Maybe recruiters suck and are bitter that we tell them that their firm is our top choice while we interview at as many places as possible at once. But when they ask where they stand ‘you are my top choice right now’
Good news and bad news: We are expecting our first child in the next 2mo. Sadly, we’ve also just lost a close family member. As a result, we’ve come into a little money and would like to put maybe $10-15K aside to start a college savings for baby. Does anyone have experience with this? What’s the best way to go about it? I’m not hugely familiar with this, but want to make sure I understand the fees and taxes that may be affiliated with different options. Would be grateful for any insight!
At ey, once you complete 4 years, do you not get a 50 percent 401k match? Can someone confirm and where could i check this?
Happy Diwali folks ! Here's hoping that the divine lights of Diwali bring to your life peace, prosperity and good health 🌟
I'm on track for a promotion at Amazon but I'm so tired of working there that I can't stand it and am starting to get offers from slightly smaller companies. What should I do?
