$188k @ TX for 1st Year Manager is not possible - unless the guy comes with deep Industry exp with decent total exp - unless he/she does not realize that it is not really 1st year Manager as it will end up in an early promote situation - unless $188k is not base (it is including bonus) - OR something is missing ... it’s not a normal case.
$250K for SM is not high salary. Most experienced SM/Ds make that much.
EY M-SM-ED/P = D M-SM-MD/P - it does not matter how much levels below Manager. However D’s M salary range is slightly broader because at-least
40% Managers are not Sales or Partner track oriented. Lot of tech folks stay at M level for 5/7+ years.
Usually mostly Ms in PwC are sales oriented - hence we loose out some of tech talents. For that - we are first time introducing a SM level between M and D - so people who are not interested for sales an all, they can become SM and stay for a long time before becoming D/MD.
I interviewed with EY for a M position in QAS and they wanted to bring me on as SA3 at $135k + 5k signing. This was in DC and I rejected the offer. I think you’re getting lowballed, especially for NYC.
OP, the offer is on the lower end for NYC. I am at $155 at M2 level in Texas.
QAS. That’s the group I was thinking of. They pay way more than DNA which honestly is mostly a bunch of SQL coders not doing real analytics
Idk about the sign on bonus, but that's probably the median/mode depending on the pillar you're joining.
How many years of consulting experience?
EY2 - No, it is the same especially for a lateral move
EY1 - Wow this is ridiculous. I should have asked this question here before I confirmed to them that I’m ok with it :(
I am getting this after negotiating with them. They originally wanted to give me something lower.
Following - what does OP do next? Better to take it, reopen negotiation or go back and turn it down?
Well, not all practices/skill sets are created equal. Isn’t there some other practice that does hardcore analytics where everyone gets paid a shit ton?
D1 - 188k for M1 is very high. What were you doing before Deloitte?
Joined D in 2017 as M1, base $188k, $10k sign on bonus and in TX
Also 5 years of total experience as a consultant and FTE.
MBA or not?
M2 - 6 years consulting experience
EY1 - Not MBA, but did my MS here
D1 - Oh wow $150k is incredibly low in comparison! Did you do your MBA?
Yes.
Isn’t M at Deloitte the equivalent of SM at EY?
No mba here..
D1 - I guess I know where I’m applying next 😳
What practice are you aligned to?
OP - what’s your current pay - current location- company & bonus ?
