if you're jealous of US salaries, just remember that many of us either a serious illness away from insolvency or trapped in a corporate job because it includes health insurance. i'd trade half my comp for the safety of not worrying about healthcare costs.
Chief
I mean I'd rather have lower taxes and fewer gov covered services and let ppl pay ad hoc for what they need/ use, unbundle the subscription if you will. I'd love to save my taxes for my own use lol
This group is incredibly skewed towards high earners, this is not at all representative of the US
Why are salaries in Europe so crap? No offense to the OP, but there are a lot of jobs you can get right out of high school in the US that pay the same wage as university-educated Europeans.
All the talk about healthcare costs is overblown, most corporate employers offer it as a benefit, or you can pay for your private healthcare for $400 a month. It’s not that big of an investment when you’re earning x3 the salary of Europeans.
B1 just depends on your personal circumstances. I was seeing quant traders or bankers going for 150k base and then 100% or more bonuses and then in here like 50k is probably their holiday in Bora Bora you know? But I can’t lie, doubling my salary in 3 years and having a good lifestyle for UK is nice
OP, thanks for sharing but your number looks low for 7YOE even for consulting in UK (assuming London?). I am all for moving jobs for pay rise but some moves take away your opportunity to aim for bigger jobs.
I don’t have 7 years in consulting. Half of that is in public sector and I am not London. I am central belt so I don’t get the London salary which is like 20 to 30% higher.
Also I am in corporate functions not a consultant sorry if I didn’t mention that.
