3rd year associate, 1 year of workers compensation experience. Overhead I will lose my mentor/Sr. Associate in ~2y. I’m making a punch list of everything I need to learn/have her show me over the next 1.5 years before I’m left without a Sr. Any suggestions would be welcome. I know I don’t know enough.

Took me a minute but I think they meant “overheard”.

I think you’re asking what you need to learn before you lose a senior associate mentor in 2 years? 2 years is a long time and you’ll learn a lot - I don’t do workers comp work, but i do do l&e and i can’t even begin to wrap my mind around everything I don’t know.

I do WC. That is enough time to learn what you need to know.

Decided that I’m leaving audit today. Trying to understand the full range of opportunities in forensics. Will have my CPA and CFE. So far, I understand that there are client-serving firms like FTI and then the B4 will have forensics arms as well. What are some other forensic accounting roles? Pros and cons? Better than audit? Honestly just looking to learn anything.

I went through a few interviews with the Deloitte Cybersecurity for a manager role. I've been in more senior roles at competing firms. Initially I said no thanks, but after the 4th call they made an initial offer at the top pay of the manager salary range and sent me a link to the application form. It's a 20% pay bump for me. So the question is should I take a demotion for 20% pay bump? Or counter with a lateral move? Is it even possible to negotiate a higher level after interviews are done?

Hey guys, I am about to complete a year in IB, and will start the recruitment process soon for buyside roles. I think I am more interested in VC/Growth vs late stage PE, but wanted to know more about the difference in comp between the two. I am looking at roles in London, so would be great to know whose comp is higher and who are the top payers for VCs/early growth.

Currently working on a three person team in a larger GC group. I lateraled from a different group that did not pay attorneys on an attorney scale. I’m stuck in my old pay scale but have gotten promotions and raises quickly with more on the horizon. A recruiter reached out with a new role for 2-2.5x more than I currently make doing something similar. I love my company and the people I work with but the money isn’t there. Is it worth trying to get a counter to stay if I get the bigger offer?
