You don't have to feel motivated to keep doing it. Sometimes you can just show up and do the work with zero enthusiasm. I just reminded myself that some days, I don't have to like it in order to do it, for myself and for my future family.
It's good to have a long-term goal, but motivation can also come from enjoying what you do day to day. If you find your work interesting, take pleasure and pride in that. It may be a slog, but there's often a lot of satisfaction to be found as we're slogging away. Enjoy the small goals too.
Look at it this way: if all you did from now on was work to cover your living expenses, you’d be 100% of the way to your retirement goal in about 10 years. Not sure how old you are, but does that seem awful? I’m in a similar boat in that I have 4 million that I wanna turn to 8 before I retire. Based on historical returns if I just leave that money alone for abut 7-8 years and just earn enough to pay my bills, I’m there.
True. But I also have a 50% chance I’ll have more than double by then as well. It’s all a crapshoot. But if you have investing advice, I’ll hear you out.
I plan out my next vacation and also take a look at my budget to see what I can cut
that was the easy part, not at 100% means u keep slogging. After reaching it is the hard part, deciding when to actually pull the trigger
