Relax. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Send a TY note.

Nice
It’s been shown that most folks decide whether to hire or not based upon the first few minutes of an interview (fair or not).
If you did well in the early part of the interview, it’s likely a good sign.
I saw a study on this once (wish I could find it), but they should groups of people the first few minutes of an interview and entire interviews. When asked who would they hire, the results were nearly identical.
I wouldn’t be worried about getting the answer wrong. How did you handle getting it wrong and the director walking you through it? How you handled that will say a lot about you as an employee.
I said I appreciated the explanation and thanked him for helping me out.
I would def send a thank you note! In my case, after 7 rounds of interviews, at the second to last round with my HM, in the last few minutes before the interview ended, he asked me what was my favorite security breach in 2020. I blanked and could not mutter a single response. I apologized and said I’m having a brain freeze. He asked me to send him a brief write up. In my email I wrote a short and sweet reply with my fav security breach this past year and gave a solution on what I think how to solve that problem. He left me on read for 2 days and replied with a thanks for following up! I had my final interview the week after. Two weeks later I got the offer! Even after I joined, so many of my interviewers that I connected with told me I had great interviews. So don’t sweat it!
I did do well and moved on in the process. Yall were right, I was trippin for no reason.
Sounds like you did well. Send a thank you note
