A few things that I noticed about the job market for Tech in 2026:

1. Majority of the companies are ghosting the applicant.
2. Companies reject applicants 30 to 60 days later.
3. Companies are using AI ATS to screen every applicant for keywords.
4. Companies are only keeping the job posting up for a 1 or 2 weeks.
5. Job search sites seem to have much less jobs.
6. Companies are underpaying.
7. Companies want tier 1 to do tier 2 work for less pay.
8 . Interviews are a 4 to 5 step process.

Interviewing question: for anecdotal “tell me abt a time when..”, & similar questions - are you allowed to recycle stories from your undergrad years or do they only look for post grad/work stuff? Afraid some of the stories that sounded okay at undergrad recruiting might now come across as a bit “lightweight” in this context...like would they eye roll if we start talking about that one time we did a science competition sophomore year of college (even though it taught an important lesson)..etc.🤔

is the amazon work simulation assessment a case study? should i be expecting, for instance, a coding test? or a financial modeling test? or is it behavioral?

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? Two questions on job apps:
1. Do you include the duration of your projects that you're including in your application? I have several years of experience but am highlighting only the most relevant ones. But they are projects from a year or two ago.
2. Does anybody have advice in quantifying impact in the projects they've worked on for both resumes and interviews? I can put together high-level numbers (estimated X% in cost reduction, etc.) but none of these are obviously proven out.

I am ready to transition my Salesmen to a base salary with commission to incentivize new hires & reward my long term guys. My industry is aftermarket auto parts. I am leaning towards a 2% commission but am flexible and just need help in figuring out salaries.

I currently work as a GM and Operations manager for a family owned Restaurant chain in Denver, CO. I run four Restaurants, and two Coffee shops for the owner. I opened four of these businesses since January 2021. My salary is 73k. I feel very underpaid and very overworked to the point of burnout. I’m wondering what “fair compensation” might be. I want to ask for a raise but not sure what to ask for.

How do I know Big-Law is not for me?

I am a first year who just started a couple of months ago and I am literally confused all the time. I did some small work for two partners and they loved it, so put me on new deals but the mid levels I am staffed with absolutely hate the work I do. One said the work I did was laughable. When discussing a first technical interview with a recruiter how much time do you ask them to give you for preparing for the interview?

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.

I was a contractor for a big company and they just let me know that my last day is December 30th. I got this position thanks to a recruiting company that has been great and gives me benefits.
Should I:
- Continue working with the recruiting company, hoping that they will find another position for me? (as they told me they will, and when they applied me I started working with my current company within 2 weeks)
