my current ctc is 16 with 5.6 years of experience. I was a contract hire and parent company wants to hire me.
company is service based company.
my current title is senior analyst but they want to make me manager.
they are skipping tech lead and team lead positions.
they are ready to change 5 days working from earlier 6 days working.
they are asking me my expectations.
we are on client location and there is no one above us. Also team is not technically sound.FSS

M3, the problem is that this isn’t our culture. We walk the walk on diversity and helping people have lives outside the office and it’s not okay for partners to not walk the walk. Anyone who even hints at creating an environment like this has not been paying attention to our senior partners for the past 10 years and needs to be reminded of our values
Let HR know. At the end of the day the partner will have to answer for why your friend was rolled off. Unless people get held accountable for the culture they create nothing will change.
Not the first time I’ve heard / seen this. There is an underlying belief (at least for paternity) that you should not disconnect and be away for the time allotted. The excuses are “out of sight-out of mind”, but the real reasons I’ve heard are - “Does the father really need to be home for four months?!”, “The baby sleeps 75% of the time”, “We made it by fine with 3 weeks”. Not right, but it’s the world we live in.

Depends on context. If there is a prior performance issue, they may let you go. Document, and sue.
Agree, go on leave, if there's an issue when they get back, like getting fired, document everything lawyer up, sue firm and said partner, reap the $$ you'll win in the lawsuit plus they'll give you the job back and the partner will be fired for cause
Hold on— the partner is probably meaning the person needs to roll off and find a new project when they come back, not that they’re going to be fired. Depending on your role and project, if you’re gone for 6 weeks you have to be replaced anyway (too long for someone to cover) so when you come back you’ll need to find a new project
I’m genuinely curious, what exactly is illegal or unethical here? Rolling off somebody for taking leave? I understand the partner may have phrased it wrong and should have been supportive. But was it illegal or unethical?
EY offers 16 weeks parental leave for dads? That's by far the most generous I have seen!
Deloitte offers 16 weeks too. Is everyone mad about the prospect of being rolled off or fired? If fired the anger is justified. If rolled off, why does everyone think being rolled off if you’re going to take extended time off is punishment or retaliatory?

P9, sucks but why not do the 6 right at crt. Just saying you should hit all of that time if you can and take vacation when kid arrives. If you’re leaving anyway, this’ll get you the full 6

The partner is not wrong. We aren’t cheap and clients look to cut costs all the time

Yeah, no. Call HR. Partner has their head up their ass. There’s a reason these policies are in place and aren’t up for individual partner interpretation

@pwc2, supposedly the policy is changing to align with D and EY this spring/summer, culture change will take longer.
