A year from September I started a new job (corporate), it has honestly been the worst. I had someone “train” me for about 3 days then I was thrown out on my own, trying to catch up on everything the person I replaced left pending with no instruction. I gave it 6 months to see if it got easier but it really hasn’t, one of the attorneys I work for will always find ways to blame everyone else for his mistakes then take accountability. It’s like walking on eggshells.

I’m sorry you’re going through all of this. No one deserves to be treated like that, especially not at work.

Documents everything with dates and details. Only bring it up to HR if it gets bad and you feel it won’t harm you or bite you in the a**. If it gets too bad, you can still bring it up but be very careful with how you do it, and again, document everything. If there’s no paper trail, make one.

My anxiety is through the roof. Recently I haven been getting my attention red called for “using the WiFi” “talking to coworkers about non-work related stuff” and taking a break (which I took my laptop to because I didn’t want to fall behind in).

I know that one of my coworkers has made a formal complaint regarding other people not doing job duties and unprofessionalism and nothing was done about it. I am the only person of color in the office and since I’m the only one getting my attention called it’s starting to feel a bit personal.

I have never worked in the corporate world so I’m not sure if this is the norm? Any tips or advice?

This is not my wheelhouse so I’m not sure of the answer. If someone is writing a “memoir” and is including me in it, and I DONT want to be in the book, do I have any legal recourse? I understand since it’s been published it doesn’t meet any invasion of privacy or potential defamation yet, but is there something I can do preliminarily to protect myself and stop my inclusion?

I recently had a specialist partner send me a fairly nasty email after I (a transactional first year) was told to ask them to review something ASAP that had clearly been on my partner’s radar for over a week. Does anyone know how litigation finance works on the plaintiff side? If someone wanted to bring a lawsuit against their former employer would a general contingency arrangement with a plaintiff’s firm make sense? Or would one need to find funding and then contact a plaintiff’s firm to actually handle the case? I’m a transactional lawyer, so this is out of my wheelhouse.

Transactional associate. Lateraled 6 months ago and one of the biggest pain points has been my new firm’s inclination to “hop on a call”, which of course requires every single stakeholder to join. The end result being every call has 25 people on it and nothing actually gets done because no one wants to ask a question that could come off as silly. It’s destroying my ability to get anything done during the day. It’s a complete performance and it drives me nuts.
