I heard from my head that there is a lot of slowdown in VW Germany... There is Hiring freeze, level freeze and all ... And soon that will spillover to india. So be prepared for very less hikes in coming cycle :( Also automotive sector in general is struggling with tesla laying off 10% workforce recently. Maybe time to make a move? What do you say fishes?

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

Didn't have top grades, wasn't on law review. Worked at a midsize firm and was laid off in march-- have about 3 years experience in a hot practice area. Have been applying and had some interviews at larger shops but nothing has come of it. I'm still applying to roles (not many out there) in my area but coming to the realization based on number of larger firm rejection letter that I may not find a role. Howdy…I need a sanity check! As part of my previous role, I reported security non-compliance and gross security misrepresentations. For my valiant efforts I was laid off (despite being a protected whistleblower) and my reports were buried. Everything I did was in line with my responsibilities. I was extremely concerned that systems housing personal credit data on all US consumers were not adequately protected. I essentially risked my job to protect data and I’m not sure if it mattered.

Early in my career and feel like I’m in environments that are really struggling in their SCM development. I would love to spend some time in an org that has good practices to get first hand experience in action. This way I can be better prepared to help clients from a practical perspective. What orgs do you think fit that?

I currently do planning system implementation at SC level. Quite technical stuff and less PMO. What are my future career possibilities from here onwards? Can I keep progressing in the standard ladder and keep doing implementations, or is it automatically going to end up becoming more are more sales oriented and less actual implementation work? Especially interested in the SM level and above. I’d prefer staying at Big 4 and avoid the supplier side.

Is it common to negotiate software engineer salary at smaller companies? I know it’s common at FAANG, but what about for companies with around 200 engineers? I have a counter offer from my current company and on-site interviews scheduled for end of July with google and Amazon, but I’d prefer to go with the smaller local company if I can negotiate the salary (from offer letter) up another 5% or so.
