Don’t mention pay/being undervalued at all. Say that you are looking for a change in culture and looking for better learning opportunities and you feel this could be a good fit. Only talk about money with the recruiter.
As someone who has done this in the last year, I would not recommend. You will always be seen as a competition and you have to start over with networking, building connections, and getting the same level of respect. Not to mention, people at the same level are already well versed with the accounting software and have established clients. Understand everyone’s situation is different but just giving my 2 cents. Good luck with the interview though. Hopefully this works out for you
I'd frame your answer around how you're eager to take on more strategic and leadership responsibilities, with a focus on aligning with a firm that sees your potential. It’s about showing you're looking for a company that understands the importance of compensating employees based on their contribution and growth potential.
