Be professional and thankful for the opportunity, even if they are going to be petty about it
Handle it the way they would handle it if you were being laid off. Professional, short and straight to the point. Be prepared to be let go on the spot so if you have PTO to use/lose do that. Clean desk, don’t tell anybody before your immediate boss because it will get to them before you have a chance to do it yourself. It will be unpleasant for all parties, so don’t sweat the perfect speech there isn’t one.
Same boat here. I plan on giving (vague) notice to people I work closely with first, and follow it up with managers later. 3 weeks to close people whom I trust, 2 weeks to management.
Packing my stuff slowly, as I expect to be kicked out of the office. Will thank them for the opportunity and experience i have gained. I will make it clear how the new practice differs and isn't a competitor per se, but be fully ready to get my ass kicked out the door.

Circling back to this. How did it go? I’m at the two week mark and need pull the trigger
Be brief and don’t add unneeded details. Any open tasks are no longer your responsibility post exit date. Allow the company to take that on without your involvement.
It’s hard especially if you cared about the position, others or company but it’s time to move on!
Wish them well and walk away. Do the lunches or dinners and stay friends with those that you care about. Leave the rest in the past.
Good luck!!!
Thank you all this was very helpful!
