After 10 months of standing by my agency while being underpaid, I’m ready to move on to an AE role at a PR agency with fair salaries. I’d love to work with non-profit or B2B clients.

If your team/agency is hiring, I’d love to connect!

I admire your plan, but you should set your expectations if fair pay is the main motivator for change. You will want to look private, not holding company and may want to do some research on salaries at PR companies. Or you can reevaluate the positioning of what you want in your next career move, pay increase being one of those things. Why PR? I like the thinking, just need more to go on.

I appreciate the input! I’m really looking for industry standard, which I’ve found to be about $55-57K in the area. I’m currently working at a privately owned PR agency practicing corporate communications and would love to continue my career in the field at an agency that I feel values my, as well as my coworkers’, time and labor. I enjoy the work that I do and the people and clients I work with, but I unfortunately feel that continuing with the agency I’m at will be detrimental to my financial health long term. I hope this helps clarify!

Hoping to get some thoughts on career path? I left an agency about 1.5 years ago (content manager and prev social) to go in house (copywriter). Long story short, agency wants to offer me a senior director role. However, this isn't client facing and would be marketing for the agency itself. I left to focus on writing. I love the company where I'm at now. The agency is small compared to my current company, but the title could be helpful later. Thoughts?

I’ve been with my firm for 10 years but in the last year I’ve had lots of recruiting interest. I’m coming back from maternity leave in a few weeks but I’m wondering how to tell my current company I need more money and a better position (that I can get elsewhere) without threatening to quit. I don’t necessarily want to leave my company but if others are offering more what’s my incentive to stay?

Considering an expert role in healthcare in mid Atlantic region at McKinsey. Any thoughts about culture, wlb, tc, etc? Have read through a bunch of older threads. Opinion seems mixed. Negatives mentioned include more intense work hours than integrative track, second class citizen, slower career progression, lower pay than integrative, harder to get staffed on engagements, poor integration into teams, and subpar exit opportunities. Also read this is changing. Would appreciate recent thoughts. 🙏

Hi fishies 🐠 I’m an Art Director that’s trying to transition over to UX Design. I have experience building websites and some previous freelance work doing some UI/UX. What’s the best route to transition over and would I need to apply for entry level roles? Does an AD role with a UI/UX focus even exist? I enjoy the thinking of UX design and am comfortable designing interfaces but I’m mostly unsure of the process of working with an UX team. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Have you ever accepted an offer somewhere, and then a week later your current agency countered with a promotion and a higher salary than the other offer? I want to take the counter from my current place, but I don’t want to soil my reputation for revoking my acceptance. They are trying hard to retain me. Also, will I have a target on my back if I stay and they knew I was going to leave? I am also just grateful to have options and want to acknowledge that.
