After 6 years working as a UI/UX Designer and Front-end Developer, I’ve recently been impacted by a layoff.

It’s been a moment of reflection, the market feels very different now, and expectations have evolved significantly.

I’m currently evaluating my next steps while continuing to build, learn, and stay active.

For those who’ve gone through something similar, did you take time to reset, or jump straight back into job searching?

Can any ACN fish refer? Firm issued a wave of new hire layoffs which happened to affect me.

Why do some people get laid off and others not? Is it always utilization? Do people typically know they're at risk before it gets to that point?

Had a fight with my MD or let's say more like argument. After that the next 2 months was endless nitpicking and pulling me for mistakes that aren't really in my control.

Post 3 months, I apply for a transfer. Transfer process delayed for some process reasons
No negatives/issues in my f22 feedback. Utilization above target. Way Above average

I started a full time in-house design job that pays extremely well. I barely have to work at all. This makes me very confused since I kept hearing stories of people working 60+ hr weeks as designers at ad agencies. I am not complaining, but I have this creeping irrational feeling that I’ll get fired for not working even though there’s nothing for me to do. Should i be making up projects or asking for more work? Or just chill out? I just feel very confused. Are a lot of full time jobs like this?

I am seeking new employment, I was recently laid off due to lack of work. I would very much appreciate any leads. I have a Bs in Construction Management and over 15 years experience with Revit and AutoCAD and 7 years of plumbing design. I have solid references and impeccable work ethic. I truly enjoy what I do. Working remotely the last three years has become a way of my life and supports our current situation well, therefore I am seeking a similar role but will consider other opportunities.

Does your firm find out why you failed a clearance ? Asking bc I got fired from my first job out of college a couple years ago and didn’t report it on it company background check. I’m afraid if I fail my public trust, my current firm will find out and fire me for not reporting it on my prior employers.

I cleared all my rounds of interview in JPMC, had salary discussion with HR 2 weeks back. After which i was asked to apply the job on candidate portal and submit additional information.

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Advice needed on handing in notice, I recently signed an offer letter and understand the screening process takes 4-6 weeks. I have a month's notice period and have agreed a preliminary start date in Feb.

I was planning on not handing my notice in until the checks had been completed so its all secured (not that I think I will fail any checks), but apparently I need a reference from my current employer not previous ones. Can't really do this without handing in notice can I?

Question! I just moved(transferred) to another team of my company and received new title, graphic & creative services. I was a senior graphic designer at the previous team. What do you think about my new title? I know that title is not a big thing but why I feel like my title is downgraded here… Good thing is my jobs here at my current team are what I really wanted to do. This is amazing. I started a new job just 7 weeks ago, but an opportunity for a dream job just suddenly and unexpectedly fell into my lap! It’s a lot more money, more aligned with my career goals, and will have better work life balance. I’d be an idiot to not take this great new opportunity! That being said… I’m going to feel bad leaving this new job so soon. I’m sure they’ll be disappointed and maybe even angry… is there any way to NOT burn bridges on my way out of this current job?

I quit my old job but am working PT for them till they find a replacement. Apparently they could not get a refund on a flight they booked me and my manager is asking if (not me, but I can see it in Teams) I can reimburse for the ticket. It’s $800, anyone know if this is legal?
