Ask for as much as you can, including a generous sign-on bonus. Why not? The worst they will say is no and provide a counteroffer. You might as well go big.
Most folks are figuring it out as they go. A VP friend aimed for 250 to 300k base, 30 to 50 percent bonus, and at least one to two percent equity depending on dilution. If talks are stuck, it may be time to loop in someone higher. What number would make this move worth it for you?
No one gives 1% equity at that valuation
