All… I have seen a lot of mixed reviews about Slalom Consulting… but what about the area focusing on Databricks at Slalom? If hired, it’d be a principal level role. I’m debating my next career move. I also have a job offer from Accenture Fed Services, but it is not Databricks-related. Booz Allen is also working on their counteroffer. Thoughts?

FED is being squeezed, so know the timeline for the contract you are being hired on to for renewal. Know the strategy if that falls to renew, i.e. are you taking a job to backfil someone who jumped ship only to be immediately laid off?

Are you Slalom?

I don’t know about that team but Slalom right now feels like a bit of a sinking ship. Leaders are all leaving, RTO, silent layoffs.

How is Booz?

I’m at the principal level at Slalom but a different team, so happy to answer questions.

Booz is experiencing some reorgs here as well, but I might move to their CTO team away from client facing to focus on databricks. I’m a lead associate here as well (same level as P at slalom). I think almost all the consulting firms experience the same in terms of the current situation out there. I haven’t been asked to RTO yet and been working from home for almost a decade. Some leaders at Booz left as well.

Honestly, I would steer clear of Slalom at this point. As others have mentioned, it is a sinking ship that everyone that works here is frantically trying to get off. The executives are delusional and there’s no strategy whatsoever.

I work on a consulting team at a large software company. I’m a job hopper, around 2 years each at my first and second jobs and a little over a year at this job. I recently found out they’re shutting my team down. We’re not fired, but they’re transferring us to the core implementation team, which has a horrible reputation for malignancy, overworking, and isn’t at all what I was hired to do. How hard is it going to be to for me to find a new job? Should I just stay and try things out? What next?

I tried asking this in my own bowl with no responses, so seeing if other consultants have run into this situation. I’m on parental leave, I got an offer for another firm, great opportunity and pay. How does one go about a resignation mid-leave when you would start the new job before the leave ends? Two weeks notice or just say I am not returning effective the day of the new job? One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
