Hi All, My sister has done Computer Science engineering Bachelor degree and has 5 years of work experience in India. She is applying for MBA at https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/programs/mba/full-time-mba/ and https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/full-time-mba/academics/majors-minors/marketing.html. Her overall goal is to get into Software Product management. Any suggestions if any of these MBA’s can open path in the desired space or if she is better of doing an MS in Comp engg. to further develop deeper Technology skills. Thanks

Network
I came from a non target. Went into industry and busted my ass to break into consulting only to find myself doing tech implementation. I eventually got a break and made it to a t2. It’s possible but it doesn’t happen overnight. Took me 4 years to do that without losing sight of what I wanted.
How'd you go about networking? Networking is admittedly not one of my strong suits but it's something I've been trying to work on.
The target school concept normally only matter for campus hires. F&A experience in industry (such as at Abbott) or audit should qualify you for experienced hires in Big 4 advisory. The lack of demand you’re experiencing is likely new grads (with <9 months work experience) applying and not able to distinguish themselves from campus hires that are slated to start early summer through fall

Top mba?
Working on it! I was thinking more so if I could make some type of progression before that.
Network, network, network
Came from a school that is never targeted by mbb,t2,b4… probably the only person working at a t2 from my school
Worked in industry out of college, got brought into b4 as a staff consultant through referral, networked my ass and proved my worth so a partner vouched for my transfer to a t2 (think pwc-> s&/ ey-> eyp) My educational background sticks out like a sore thumb but with a bit of luck it is possible (took ~3.5 years tho)
Went from non target school undergrad in B4 audit to B4 consulting with no mba. Mostly had to do with how I could spin my story.
