Our jobs suck enough. Let people have their whimsy
Like as a reaction to your message? Fwiw I’m male and the heart is my standard reaction, it never occurred to me that it could be taken any type of way
Not weird in IM, a little weird in emails.
It is likely harmless and they’re likely not hitting on you if it is just in thanking you.
Sorry to clarify, it’s not weird in my book. I do this to my peers as well and no one seems to dislike it or have any feelings towards it.
Please chill.
Getting old. I know millennial men in their 30s who do heart reacts on Teams

Depends on the colleague but I do that too.
Take it as aggressive pursuit of romantic interest. Act accordingly.
This has worked for me on multiple occasions (1.5 times/100-120 messages)
I am firmly GenX, in my 50s and use emojis in Teams etc messages regularly as do my colleagues of various ages. I use them in emails too depending on the recipient and I receive emojis too, from clients and counsel. Usually laughing or smiling.
I actually thought it was an older person thing bc millennials switched to lol and younger use different emojis than the originals (like 💀 instead of 😂). 🤷🏻♀️
For reference I’m corporate in NYC. 🙃
Very common. Hearts are the default acknowledgement in many messaging apps so it’s not weird to use it on teams.
Omg you are totes getting old! 😂😂💀💀💀💀❤️❤️❤️❤️

100% weird but more and more common.
Just realized we use default hearts on fishbowl too
