That’s insane - the time, extra depreciation on your car, the time, the time.
If you’re an sr analyst I can’t imagine you’d be making that much more. Even though 40% is a significant percent what is the dollar value?
Like 45k before any OT.
How’s the traffic going to the new place? I think I could manage it if it’s no traffic, just a far drive, but if it’s 60 miles with traffic, not worth the trouble.
Twice as far basically. So 40ish min compared to 1.5 hours. It’s insane but I keep thinking it’s a contract AND I want to get out of my job because it’s toxic as hell so this is kind of a bridge.
Is it a fixed period contract? Like does it have a set end date? If so I say go for it knowing it’s temporary, and hopefully you can make a lot more money while figuring out your next move
And honestly I plan on interviewing and thinking of my next move. Not sure they will even want me when they hear how far away I live. The recruiter said she didn’t tell them lmao.
Maybe you can find a cheap Airbnb or short term rental where you stay 3 days there to save on commute?
If you find an inexpensive hotel that might work too. Rewards programs can be a nice discount for heavy users like you would be. I’ve considered this approach but didn’t end up taking the position that would necessitate this.
Would they negotiate giving you 3 days a week at home? Or are they completely set on 3 days in office? I think 3 days of that kind of commuting would be too much for me. 2 days I could handle. It's worth a shot to negotiate the extra day at home
