I’m a bit self-conscious about what people think of me, and I feel like this is hindering my ability to act the way a manager should. It’s my first time in this type of role and I’m realizing I have some growth to do if I wanna keep the job.

After being unemployed for several months, I took a project management job and unsurprisingly it’s not a good fit because of the nature of the role/tasks. What skills would you focus on in your spare time to stay sharp and in consideration for BizOps and S&O roles? Have SQL and data visualization on this list but any others?

Received an offer from a top FAANG for a 250% increase in TC. However, I was initially interviewing for a position that was remote and yet the final offer does not provide that option, non-negotiable. I have a wife and 2-year-old child and another one due in 7 months, and currently live near both sets of grandparents.

Is working at a top FAANG really worth that kind of cost? I'm leaning heavily 'no' but it's not making it easy to sleep at night knowing I'm sitting on this kind of offer!

What does it even mean now to work “in tech”. I feel like people are over romanticizing the “in tech” part to mean working any job in a tech company or the IT department of a company, when I think it should be more towards people in product, design, engineering, and maybe corporate strategy, etc. I’m not trying to gatekeep anyone, but I feel like this is problematic because it bleeds into stuff like “the prestige working in FAANG” but one is in a non-tech role or lower requirement role.

I work for a big FS company and I’ve been trying to adapt for the past 18 months, but the work culture is simply mental and I don’t think I’m really fit for this company .

I am actively looking for positions outside, but with the hiring freeze in big tech there are few company out there hiring at my current income level and I would need to take a huge pay check cut to leave (50% give or take)

I’m also afraid that the longer I stay here less relevant to the market I become. What would you do?
