Which one to choose between Optum and Tiger Analytics for Data Scientist position? Where can I expect better data science domain expertise (In my previous companies I found very less understanding of Data Science practices as team)? Heared good things about both of these. Also hearing Tiger is expanding rapidly and getting some crap projects as well in the name of data science. Could someone put light on these things?

Amex Platinum is wildly expensive, but not if you break it down. Not to sound like a hardo, but being back in the office - I’m at the point where my time = money, so the Walmart delivery alone is huge (I’m on Long Island)
Walmart delivery: $14.95/month = $179/yr
Streaming credit: $20/month = $240/yr
Clear Membership: $189/yr
…we’re at $608 already
Now if you consider using the lounge when you travel… most airport meals cost ~$20. Even if I travel 3-4x, that’s $120-$160 each trip (round trip)
You also get a $200 credit for Hotel Collection and their other partner, as well as a $100 credit to be used at the hotel. Just brought the family to Disney and used it at Marriott’s Swan.
Also had CSR, but downgraded to CSP. It’s great for the reasons mentioned above.
If i can recommend another great card: The Capital One Venture X offers a lot of great perks at almost half the price of Plat
Both, bc I’m not poor
I’m with you on that, totally agree
Both... I'm a moron.

Between myself and my wife:
Amex plat each.
Amex gold (wife is auth user)
CSR (I am auth user)
Having all of them is totally worth it. We churn points on these -
- gold for all the restaurant spend - 4x points (especially for work, we crank out points on this when there is a team event and the bill is $3-4k)
- plat for all our flights - 5x points, and we transfer point when we travel internationally
- CSR for all hotel spend - 3x points, and we use this to transfer to united for domestic flights
If you have to choose - the Amex. The non-monetary benefits (trip cancellation, other insurances, purchase protection, etc etc) are out of this world when used. Amex goes out of its way to make sure you are happy. I’ve left every call I’ve made to them with a smile on my face. With the CSR, we get transferred to an Indian call center and have to speak to clueless reps.
Hey D1, given that you use CSR for United points, have you considered the Chase United cards? And if so, why did you choose CSR?
I’m a United / Star Alliance flyer, and I’m thinking about upgrading my CSP to another chase card. Thanks!

Closing Amex. Poor points value. Weak partnerships and no bonus multipliers.
Stick to Chase and their 50% bonuses. Best value these days.
Also fwiw stop transferring points to airlines miles these days. It’s become the worst redemption value.
With the cut throat devaluation of cred card points only makes sense to pay using credit card points at this point
I just flew to Venice from east coast transferring 25k points from CSR to United mileageplus during peak travel time. Same ticket would have cost me $800+ one way. Think airline redemption is still elite.
Tbh the Capital One Venture X is a better travel card than both. Lmk if you’d like explanation
Lmk if you get it so I can send my referral code lol.

I like BILT because it mimics a bank account and I can pay my rent, bills etc, so I get 1 point for every 1 dollar spent. I can than transfer the points to airlines and hotels 1:1 ratio. It also gives 5x points on hotels and airfare purchase, it beats Amex platinum (Google it). I got Amex Plat too bc I wanted the sign up bonus, but now after the first year, not sure I’ll renew for another year bc the remaining benefits are not justifying the $800 annual fee.
I have the Platinum Card. It’s been great; the credits, perks, concierge and the cachet of having it is all great. But as Director 1 said, you’d need the Gold Card to really maximize your points earning potential (particularly on dining) since flights and prepaid hotels are really the only purchases you can earn on (5X).
From my observations, without having the card, if you just want one card to suit your needs and maximize points earning potential, CSR is the more well rounded card. It has some cachet for those who know what’s up (think quiet luxury), but it’s not as obvious a flex as the Platinum Card.
Nobody thinks platinum is a flex lol, school teachers have that card
I have both amex platinum and gold. As someone said above use gold for groceries and food because it gets you 4x the points. I have the platinum because i travel a lot and like access to the lounges and can book on their website. You also get like a $200 a year statement credit on hotels, airlines, uber, equinox and some others. If you don’t use the credits or travel a lot i don’t think it’s worth it but for me personally it is
AMEX Platinum and Chase United Club. The latter only for lounge access really—got it when I was flying to Houston a lot on a case. If I had to choose, AMEX all the way. Better service, perks, etc.
Really depends on you. I have the Amex platinum + gold which negates me needing the CSR. Higher AFs but I maximize the credits in all categories on the Gold and most on the platinum, to justify it. Gold is the point work horse for dining and groceries and the platinum is for credits + and elevated travel perks. Also, Amex costumer service is top notch. I HATE calling chase. Until Chase expands their lounge network, Amex still has the leg up in regards to lounge access at airports and I’ve used the concierge on multiple occasions to get last minute dinner reservations that I could not get otherwise, including on Mother’s Day!
If anyone needs a platinum Amex referral, I have a 150k signup bonus points offer :)
CSR only.
Really unclear why I’d blow a couple hundred dollars on a heavy silver card just for a soft place to sit and salty guac when I travel. Amex customer service was also horrible to me a few years ago on a Covid cancellation. I will never use an Amex if I don’t need to.
F
VentureX … almost all the same perks for half the price.
Amex plat is basically just a coupon book and the centurion lounges are way too over crowded. Used to be good for the delta lounges but next years it’s gonna tank
I find the Amex offers to be particularly useful for my needs too though

I have both as well. Chase for the past 5 or so years and just got Amex a few months ago for the lounges. The points just really don’t add up with Amex, and I don’t think the lounges justify the fee. I use the other credits thought but more like “I have to as they’re there”. Will cancel Amex and stick to Chase.
