Stealth layoffs at CWT confirmed.
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Hi OP, Deb here 👋🏼 First, I am kinda sorta DEFINITELY shocked a partner agreed that change needs to happen. Second, I am super impressed by it. Third, I am also impressed by you speaking up and saying you feel the same. Fourth, this makes me so happy I could pass out (kidding but kinda not because I just got out of hot yoga and am feeling zen and also v dizzy)
Crossing my fingers for you that, for once, PwC walks the walk. I truly believe that honesty and transparency makes everything better, even if the firm isn't ready to hear it. Keep us posted and best of luck!!!
Oh wow! I hope so too. Pretty cool that they did that
Oh wow my heart just warmed up ☺️ there is light at the end of this tunnel? Don't fool yourself buddy, start looking for a job
Wow crazy that article got around the firm. Good they acknowledged it.
Wait OP sorry for the shameless self promote but I'm gonna leave my newest post here in case anyone who's recently laid off reads your post 😁😇

Wow, Deb, your article is fantastic! I wonder how much of us are denial about it - not being our healthiest, not having relationships. I realized this week that the last time I was in a relationship was before consulting!!!
Thanks SA1! This job does a good job of conditioning people... It's really easy to lose touch with what's normal and what's not. For example, there was a point where I thought that something was wrong with ME for being so burnt out and low vs. something being wrong with the job. It wasn't until I realized other people were just as unhappy that things started to come into perspective. On top of this, I was also projecting all the work stress into my personal life without even knowing it; I would snap at everyone and constantly be moody and truthfully I lost a lot of friends in the short time I was with the firm (the 6 days a week travel didn't help either). I think that realizing what's going on is the first step to making sure this job doesn't completely consume your life. PS - go get on some dating apps! 😉
Quite similar...then suddenly the partner walks in, broods over for 2 minutes and says we need to change things if quite many people are having this bad experience.
I'm hopeful things would change, nothing big though but some sense of time and work hours could really make our lives a little easier.
#hopeful #thanksDeb
Here's the link for her article if people haven't read that yet: http://www.happyhealthydeb.com/ponder/2016/6/2/2016-the-year-i-dropped-out-of-corporate-america-to-start-a-blog
PwC1 - I already am...what I'm saying is..this was a nice gesture on Partner's part or even a little acknowledgement to the extremely exhausting working condition in the firm is a step towards improving it....I'm NOT saying this WILL change everything...what I mean is I'm hopeful!
Just that!!
Deb you had been in hot yoga so no wonder you are having such a positive attitude 😀 on the other hand, as an overworked colleague who is on a flight back home, I don't really believe PwC will follow with their promise. With mass layoffs and shitty bonuses no one even had a town hall or an all hands meeting to explain what it going on and to boost employee morale. Anyways I am happy for you
Pwc
Hi PwC 1, I think the key is speaking out. We all know PwC leadership sucks. PwC leadership also isn't going to change... unless people stop walking on eggshells and give them a wakeup call. Happy I was able to help do that, even if on a really small scale. Imagine how different it'd be if everyone spoke out. Thanks for the well wishes, if you're ever in LA (or NY) check out Y7 yoga! Their slow burn class = blisssss
I shared Deb's blog with a few Deloitters that were laid off and they all found a lot of comfort in her words. Keep doing what you're doing Deb! 👍🏼
@D1 Omg thank you!! You just made my day haha 🤗
