Currently I m having 6 YOE, I have experience in API development, consulting and devops, I am currently pursuing an advanced cybersecurity 9 month certification with Upgrad, it covers information, network and application security. I would like to shift my career to application penetration testing, please let me know the steps to follow for a smooth transition. Please advise on topics to have hands on, global certification and also on job search.

How do I leave audit? At times I feel trapped thinking to myself there is no way life is suppose to be like this. How do you find the right opportunity? Everyone says network. But, how do I network? Do I just reach out to my peers asking if they’re hiring? I would love some stories on how others ended up leaving and used their network to find a job they enjoyed doing.

I see a lot of Jr. Level folks (myself included) in this bowl asking about certain finance exit opps like MM IB and PE etc.

At some point is the comp that much better?

From Big4 Transparency: S1/MCOL/2YOE/FDD making $97k. Managers MCOL close to $150k.

very Selective jobs( MF PE and BB IBs) kinda blow these numbers out of the water... but for the more attainable exits like MM IB and and corporate development... considering wlb and pay, is the grass much greener?

T3 firm reached out re: direct admit to the partnership with some runway to grow the practice. I am at a firm now where there aren’t bright line metrics to make PPMD, but think I could make it in 2-5 years. This would be a step down in brand, but might be better from a WLB and getting to start at partner. Base salary $215k, bonus is ~$10k (lowballing), student loans are $150k, total savings are about $100k. 0 family money and will likely be supporting parents long term.
