Hi everyone! Curious if anyone here works for Slack and can shed a little light on the culture and perhaps offer a referral for an associate brand manager position I just saw on LinkedIn. With the Salesforce acquisition are SF employees allowed to refer for Slack roles? Currently a senior analyst with 4 YOE looking to break into a branding role! Thanks in advance.

Hey Googlers, I’m going in for my GCP TAM second round on Monday and had a few QQs for you all:
1. For the RRK2 case study if there is a scenario for handling peak time workloads where the client did a lift & shift of a monolithic architecture, is the best suggestion to move them to micro services to enable serverless and auto scaling features?
2. I was told that they’ll give me 15 mins to prep after the case study is shared live, would you suggest I build a 1 pager or is that not required?Google

Process:
- Phone screen with recruiter. Simple.
- 3-5 On-site interviews. Sometimes includes call with hiring manager, sometimes that’s separate as a “fit call”
- Have a call with recruiter on interview outcome- either you are going to be submitted to hiring committee or not.
- Your “packet” is submitted to hiring committee, they review your entire interview results and resume.
- Hiring committee (HC) decides Hire, No Hire, Needs more info (usually there’s just not enough data and you have to do 1-2 more interviews).
- Recruiter calls you with outcome of HC.
- If you passed HC you are given a VERBAL offer, you are asked to come up with total comp numbers you want. If no offer, your application is closed.
- Then you go to through comp committee, where you negotiate your pay. Once aligned and you accept, you get a rubber stamp approval from the VP, then you get your formal written offer.
Each step gets progressively more difficult to pass until HC approval.
There’s nuances within this of course, but this is generalized. Expect this to take 3+ months.
Referrals work best from someone who knows you and can personally attest to your work. A random referral means almost nothing. Googlers tend not to refer those we do not know.
Plenty of people apply and get hired without a referral, it’s not a mandatory.
Google is a great company but do not put it on a pedestal. There’s many other amazing places as well.
Everything is fully online right now.
Even pre-pandemic multiple interviews could be on video. 2 of my 5 were.
Your best bet is reaching out and asking if someone who is a PM at Google would be willing to have a phone call/chat about their experiences working there on the phone. Make a connection, ask great questions and take a genuine interest in what the person is doing. People love talking about themselves and if you come across well, chances are they will be excited about the idea of bringing you over to Google.
The truth of it is that no one ever wants to be asked for a referral. And it’s a big turn off when someone does ask. But if you show excitement and connect with someone about genuine things they will advocate for you (my mentor and I connected about growing up in the cold parts of the north east for example, and our love of helping people).
The worst case situation by doing this is that you get to learn more about the role and what Google believes in which will help you more in the interviews than any referral ever would.
what I know is they usually are not willing to recommend until and unless they know you through connections. I may be wrong. But since I see you are in Accenture - we have projects in Google. If you don't get referred from
here, probably try and see if you can get on those projects and work your way from there. Good luck.
