Another vote for the Renaissance
Virgin Hotel, The Gwen, Palmer House
Bed bugs were reported at the W a few days ago. Stay away.
The W.
Renaissance is a really nice hotel but pricy. Kimpton has a cool vibe and has free champagne and other drinks during happy hour. Residence inn is fun if you want a kitchen. The one in downtown/Loop is brand new and really really nice.
Marriott Resort in Lincolnshire
What price point are you looking at?
@ac1 preferably not much higher than 300
I just stayed at the Hilton garden inn in the north loop, not fancy but in walking distance to tons of bars and restaurants. Great location.
Hotel rates in the winter are pretty low. You can stay at Hotel Chicago (marriott,4 star I believe) for under 200. Within walking distance to lots of bars/nice restaurants in downtown and with platinum you get access to their lounge with dinner and drinks. The Renaissance is also another good Marriott option in the same area. Just make sure you check there's no conference happening the weekend you book. Rates get jacked up to $600+ for crappy hotels within a 20 miles radius of downtown
River north area. It's near everything
@EY1 City Center or Lakeshore?
Hyatt Regency
I like the Residence Inn River North. It's a decent hotel, free breakfast, and most importantly, it's an easy walk to restaurants, Mag Mile, the L (subway), etc. I have been going there for years when traveling
Damn, can't find that thread, DD1. Sorry. 😞 It was reported here on Fishbowl, hence thought of mentioning it.
Hotel Chicago or renaissance great locations
A new hotel in Wicker Park just opened...it is called The Robey (at North, damen, Milwaukee intersection)...its got plenty of bars and restaurants nearby and will allow you to experience a chicago neighborhood. The hotel is directly across the street from the blue line (goes to ohare and the loop). An uber to Michigan Avenue or Lincoln Park from there is typically less then $10.
I like the aloft in river north
Aloft is fine but I liked Ren a lot more
