Interviewed by a FP&A director for a SFA position and they asked me my salary expectations. I couldn’t dodge the question so i gave a range between 110-115k (where i’m currently at as S3 in big4 advisory). They said highest base for the position is around 105k and total comp (base+annual bonus) would likely be 110k. The role focuses on top-line P&L and is pure FP&A (no JE/acctg responsibilities) and good WLB, so i think it’s a good opportunity. If they do give an offer, should i still negotiate?
Folks with great benefits - which do you value most as a queer person? Folks with crappy benefits - what do you wish your company provided?
I didn’t get promoted to a senior and my firm is hiring a senior position in my office ... should I be worried? 😢
Based on your experiences working at or interacting with MBB, what notable differences are there in their culture/people, work, and work-life mix?
I tried to handle a mental health issue on my own, but failed and am at a breaking point. My work is clearly suffering, but I have no medical history to request FMLA or accomodation. What should I do? Request unpaid, unprotected leave? Get a psychiatrist and try to treat now while hoping to improve at work? Something else? Before you ask: taking a week off to recharge won't work. Self-harm isn't an issue beyond risk of failed self-medication.
I am on H1-B visa, open to relocate and looking for State & Local Tax (Income/Franchise) Experienced Senior/Manager opportunity. Which companies are currently hiring visa candidates? Appreciate the responses, thank you!
I’m a 28F who is barely getting into investing. It’s frustrating that it took this long but as a first gen college grad, my parents didn’t know anything about this stuff until very recently, so naturally I was never taught about it. It’s crazy to see people younger than me with all this knowledge on saving and investing. How did you learn so much at such a young age? Any advice for someone like me who is starting out so late in the game?
Help me fill in the blanks: M7 MBA = MBB + Big 4 HBS = McKinsey Wharton = Bain Stanford = ??? Kellogg = Deloitte Sloan = ??? Columbia = ??? Booth = ???
Turning 30 and just feel like I’m getting dumber. I am a smart person (at least relatively) and work at MBB but lately I just feel as though I have not been as sharp as I normally am. I spent the last week drinking and going out till 3am every night (NYC) so that doesn’t help but are there any tips to regain my form and just become smarter?
EY moms...what medical insurance did you select for 2020? I’ll be covering myself + 1 kid...we may try for another baby next year but we would start 2nd half of year so birth wouldn’t be until 2021.
Career trajectory for MBB vs PE megafunds? Is it harder to make partner at PE firms compared to at consulting firms?
In conversations about a strat role at Weber. Have heard all good things but would love the DL!
My first internship was in the US Senate (Democrat senator), and other than that I have an internship and 1 YOE in consulting. Given how politicized things have become do the risks of keeping it on my resume outweigh the benefits of the somewhat unique experience?
We’re hiring! Looking for a Sr Art Director to join our Store Experience Marketing team.
Surely you mean ‘raise health with’. C’mon guys.
I’m coming back to work from maternity leave soon. The daycares I’m on the waitlists for won’t have an opening for 2 more months after that. What do you think is the best set up for the 2 interim months without daycare? Hire a nanny to come to the house (convenient but SO expensive), or do a flex arrangement with reduced hours? I’m leaning towards the flex arrangement and either trying to work early in the day and then watching the baby while my husbands at work. Any thoughts or experiences?
*Advice* I recently accepted position at a 50K pay cut (covid). I shared my target salary /lateral move & at the negotiation point, they came up slightly by way of qtrly bonus structure but also outlined path for growth incl. expected salary increases at said points. Said it could be achieved in under a year. By day 4 of the new job they had accelerated to the final point in that plan without making good on title / salary. Spoke up immediately... “in discussion” 2 weeks in. Bait/switch WWUD??
Our baby girl is now 3 mos old and has been exclusively breastfed (with the exception of the first few weeks where she got the enfamil bottles while my supply was still getting established). We now want to give her a bottle at night but she completely refused the formula bottle and puked her guts out throughout the night because of the few sips she took. What do we do now?Anyone have recommendations for alternative formulas we can try? How would you reintroduce formula to a baby like this? TIA
If I took a part time MBA program, can I still campus recruit for a summer role at MBB, Big 4, FAANG, etc?
Have around $1100 in medical bill. Does it make sense to pay from my HSA account or put it on monthly payment plan and pay from my checking account as I would pay any bill?
When a recruiter asks what salary you want for a specific role, do you throw out a number you think seems plausible or do you ask them what it pays?
60k Bonvoy points for 30k AA miles - yay or nay? Have 500k bonvoy points, and 140k AA miles. Plan to redeem AA miles for round trip to HKG.
Talk to me about au pairs. What was your experience? How much did it cost? What service did you use to find one? I have a baby and a toddler and they go to a great small daycare but we are moving and I am considering hiring an au pair instead of hunting for a daycare that I am comfortable with.
If you are on the bench and have a scheduled vacation day coming up, would you charge G&A or the vacation code?
Has anyone made the switch from consultant to Project Manager in industry? How was the transition? Moving onto a 3rd round for a PM role, haven’t had formal PM training but they said the next interview will be PM specific questions. What’s the best way to prepare?
Please help. I am debating between taking the gre and the gmat. On quant, I scored very high on in practice exams for the gre but the highest I got on on the gmat was 55th percentile. Verbal is the opposite, but the degree to which my quant score on the gmat is low is worse I think than the degree to which my verbal score on the gre is low (if that makes sense). Should I take/report gre? I’m wondering if well-written essays make up for a lower than average (by like 2-4 points) verbal gre score
Apparently this is what happens when you type "Big 4 employees" into Google...😆 http://imgur.com/83POoJL
My SO has been a pot smoker for nearly 20 years. He's smoked nearly daily since he started in college, sometimes multiple times a day. I've always had issues with it, but since he was high functioning I didn't mind it too much until we recently had a child together. After baby was born, he continues to smoke multiple times a day and didn't have a problem with his family smoking in the house until I called him out and got into a huge fight. Hotel recommendations in LA where a young, active Aussie consultant can stop for a weekend of pampering and pretending she's not a peasant? I have a ton of Marriott points but fine to spend $ too.
Is it just my perception or is USCIS totally jammed and ignoring any processing times, service requests,... I have hard time to believe that Covid is the reason.
I have a interview with a manager at Deloitte in the organization transformation practice. Tips for prepping?
Thankful for GB internet. Can’t imagine trying to WFH or keep my sanity if we were still in the age of dial up
