Any of y’all have effective ways of advocating for yourself more? I always receive feedback about being too reserved and I don’t boast about my work enough. I also don’t wanna come off too cocky. Any input appreciated!

If you get a glowing comment from your client, save the email down and provide it during your performance reviews.
Keep a running list of accomplishments throughout the year, bump it against your level’s “responsibility and expectations” and if some are beyond expectation and extras that can be an accomplishment you highlight

Whenever I work on something, and it’s hard, I tell my manager how proud of myself I am. They’ll likely tell me that they’re proud of me too. I count that as praise, and I’ll bring it up in review.

I’m not from an English speaking country but I am watching a tv show and businessmen walk into a room and instead of greeting eachother, everyone says each person’s first name in lieu of hi, however in my experience working in the states, I haven’t seen anyone do this, it’s always hi or good afternoon or some other greeting first THEN they say their first name. is it also appropriate to omit the greeting?

I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?

Just got let go and my manager said part of it was because I was looking for other jobs. I didn't look for other jobs at work, so I'm not sure how they could have known that unless a coworker snitched on me. Is it worth it to try and find out who or should I just leave it? Can't deny that I'm seriously pissed off about it.

Could use some help with an awkward dynamic.

My Dept has been tapped to help another dept promote a DEI study. The client dept has hired a consultant in this area. The challenges I see with this consultant's work style:

-dominating conversations
-micromanaging things outside her area
-steering things toward her own promotion over our company's agenda
-people in my dept (mostly white) are visibly uncomfortable and reluctant to interrupt or contradict her (black woman)
