Any tips for negotiating diminished value with the at fault party’s insurance? Not located in GA so not stuck with 17C.

Value of vehicle before accident $44,000, repairs cost $8,000. Relatively new(<3 years), no prior accidents. The final repair bill included a line for frame repair.

I found a few quotes from car buying sites and did before and after accident estimates. Don’t really want to hire a diminished value expert as they seem scammy.

Here's how I would handle it: I'd go to the dealership who sold me the car and ask them to write up two quotes to buy it. One with the accident and one without. Then I'd use those to negotiate. I might just ask if they'd be willing to provide the black book data variation. (You should be nice friendly with this dealership b/c they're doing you a favor)

Once I got that data I'd add like 25% and demand from insurance. When they provide a response back I'd provide the info from the dealership, demand they match it or threaten litigation (im an attorney so I'd probably just do something soft like add an ", Esq." After my name.

This may or may not be helpful to you but it's how I'd handle. GL!

Thanks so much for the advice. I’m going to give the dealership valuation a shot this weekend if I haven’t been able to reach a reasonable number with progressive

The initial offer from insurance is $1,100.

15 YOE, recently started my first tech PR job at a large, stable company & have been asked to get ~20 SMEs in front of media. Subject matter is not sexy. I feel set up to fail & feel we should be focusing on a handful of SMEs and only our sexiest topics. Any advice on mitigating unrealistic expectations for coverage? I just had a colleague ask me my opinion on a few cars since she’s buying her daughter’s first car. Went through a few brands trying to get a sense of where her mind was, and as soon as I mentioned VW she said “oh, they’re owned by Mercedes and we had bad experiences with Mercedes years ago.”

Audi A5 -

Looks like they’re all 2.0 4 cylinder, unless one goes for a S5.

Are they actually a fun to drive/powerful machine, or is it more of a “lipstick on pig” situation? It looks like the Prestige line north of $60K are also 4 cylinder.

Any insights or personal experiences?
