Any tips on announcing pregnancy to the boss?
First time mom, currently 11 weeks pregnant with twins. WFH, although only allowed to do so after threatening to quit. Worried WFH benefit will be removed.

You could try a good news/bad news approach. "Bad news, I'm pregnant. Good news, it's not yours." But honestly, just break the news like it isn't really big news. It's a fact of life. Kids happen. I'm still not quite sure how they happen, but I'm glad they do.

People usually announce between 12-20 weeks when in a secure and supportive work environment. Some people just like to make it past the first trimester, others like to wait for the anatomy scan at 20 weeks before sharing the new - it is really just what you feel comfortable with.

Just schedule a 15 minute one-on-one call. In the call say “I have some good news I wanted to share with you — I am pregnant with twins and due at the end of the year!” …A good boss should always mirror your excitement and congratulate you. Then you can set up time a little later to discuss transition plans, who will back-up your role while you are out, etc.

I’m not sure why WFH benefit would be removed unless your boss is super toxic — being pregnant with twins is good enough reason alone to WFH, especially if you are already performing well while WFH anyway.

Don't have any piece of advise but just wanted to say Congrats!

Congratulations!!!
I waited to announce my first pregnancy until the 20 week scan. I would be positive and factual when announcing, don’t show any guilt, or leave room for them to be anything but positive for you. Wfh shouldn’t be removed, aren’t pregnancies with multiples technically “riskier”? If it comes to it, it’s discrimination to change your status based on pregnancy, and as far as I’m concerned, pregnancy is covered under the ADA, so they can’t change your status based on that

Congrats. I told my boss after my first trimester (~13-14wks, at our regular 1-1, he always asked if there was anything else I wanted to bring up ). I was super nervous since I just started too (finally got pregnant when I started the new role). But I figured I’ll give advance notice so the team would be prepared for my maternity leave. I told the rest of the team and coworkers later or when we started talking about plans for the months I would be out (“oh I won’t be able to lead that project/release since I’ll be out on maternity. But good luck everyone. Lol”)

I’m trying to transfer departments at my company and I talked to the MD of the department i wanna transfer to, and told him working remotely is a requirement to me, and he said he’s not sure if that’s possible, and that would depend on HR and the hiring manager. He still forwarded my resume to HR and I got an interview. How should I negotiate to make the role fully remote?

I keep seeing new GD reviews about the company moving away from the hybrid work model and mandating RTO. Can any current employees explain what’s going on? Anything that you want me to check before joining.
