Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

It's unfortunate too that they may face cuts. The real problem is at the SM and PPED level who aren't selling. How is a staff supposed to figure that out if sales are low? I think the SMs get the short end too because PPEDs would never blame themselves so yeah really rough for new hires if that's the case. They need to trim the SMs who aren't selling and aren't utilized.
None that I have seen or that I have worked with, but I would not rule it out. We took on too many campus hires last year---lots of people on the bench last year.
I know, but how do you choose who gets laid off? Utilization is not really under your control your first year out of college... Should be interesting to see how it plays out
Metrics are King and utilization is #1. That said, everyone is compared against their rank, so a lot of people are in the same boat. If they do make any cuts, they'll go for the low hanging fruit first--people with a combination of low engagement reviews, no extra curriculars, and low utilization.
Some PPEDs and SMs have been let go as well. 1. Any 2 rated staffs are out. Then 2. Low utilization is next.
Bottom line don't get a 2
What happens if a staff gets a 2 excluding utilization, any other consequences?
2 means you'll end up on a PIP
And what happens in PIP?
