I didn’t get into any schools this past application cycle but got into H/S. I feel like I’m going to be incredibly insecure meeting my classmates this fall who probably got into every school with crazy scholarships too. Do people typically share where else they got in, GMAT, etc. when you go to school?

Very very humble brag

likefunny

Lol seriously

like

This is the most awkward humble brag I’ve ever seen dude/dudette. Please don’t do stuff like that at B school (if this is even real)

like

🙄

Seriously don’t overthink. Imposter syndrome is common in business school, high powered jobs, etc.

Just remember that you got in for a very good reason - H/S don’t make mistake admissions. Something stuck out about you that means you deserve to be there. I had a friend who went to HBS after going to a non target and working in a F500 Finance analyst job. He got over this and got a job at a top VC firm - a job that many of those ‘studs’ were not able to get.

Focus on confidence - you deserve to be there.

like

Sounds like you are your biggest critic. Believe in yourself and your abilities and you’ll be fine. NO ONE can take your confidence away from you, unless YOU let them.

Also, people at H/S don’t talk about where they got into school or GMAT.

like

Headed to HSW as well and, in my convos with classmates, school options don’t come up anymore

like

Aight so you’re going to Wharton?

likefunny

I’d love to hear more about your story!

But also, as someone who was waitlisted but then got into a prestigious undergrad, something that the dean said during orientation week stuck with me - NO ONE CARES ABOUT HOW YOU MADE IT, whether it was a B, whether someone read your app twice, whether you were waitlisted. Now that you are here, you are a part of our community and a member of the class

I’d also remember, admissions officers don’t do favors, just how recruiters don’t let you in because they feel bad or want wild cards. They saw potential and fit! So congrats on the acceptance and go crush it!!

Lastly, YOU don’t want to hangout with people who feel the need to compare stats and see who got it better or faster or was a better fit. YOU determine your journey in whatever place you choose, so it doesn’t matter how many successes other people had. All the different paths have led to the same place, your start class 😊

Stanford second year here. Most people do not care about which other schools they got accepted to, GMAT score or previous job. Only exception may be PE bros... they definitely care about having been in PE and going to PE

Lmao can you describe the PE Bros culture 😂

And do they only hang with each other

Stats?

What are your: YOE (how many companies, how many levels), undergrad school and GPA, and extracurriculars?

Joining Google in a few weeks and assuming I will be moving to the Bay Area sometime this year. For people who have kids, what do you do about schools? My wife and I are looking to buy a place but most the public schools in the South Bay are rated terribly. It’s good to note we don’t have kids yet but are trying to think longer term. Are schools even considered in the resale value of a house? Thoughts and insights appreciated!

I am trying to figure out how to switch to SWE. I have a masters in civil engineering and have a good background in higher level math. It looks like the better coding boot camps are quite expensive. The alternative is another masters in CS which is the same cost as many boot camps. Any recommendations on picking between a coding boot camp and getting another masters degree in CS? I’m looking to get into the best position possible after getting an education in CS (get a job quick and good pay).

I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).

I've never worked on anything for TikTok and hope I never have to. TikTok is from hell. I was on it one time for about 10 minutes and could feel myself becoming mentally unwell in just those 10 minutes. The human brain is not designed to deal with the sheer amount of sensory overload that app gives you. I'm pretty sure TikTok is one of the main reasons we are constantly hearing about how much Gen Z struggles with mental health.
