Chief Concern: "Best of both worlds" in engineering can mean compromises and complications, which can mean non-resilient/unreliable. But I'm no gearhead, so not sure if I'm making massive incorrect assumptions.

Do you think you and your significant other should have similar personalities? My significant other and I are doing long distance and I feel like when I FaceTime with him, I emote more and show interest by asking more questions but from his end, he doesn’t always have a reaction or just nods, and it makes me feel like he’s uninterested. On his end he sees it as he’s comfortable.

I have to tell my parents that I got engaged this weekend. They haven’t been taking the coming out well over the last year (i.e have isolated themselves from their community, screaming and crying when I’m on the phone with mom, dad hasn’t spoken to me since July). Dad passed away 2 months ago. I traveled to India and stayed for 2 months, dealt with significant red tape to close his cards, loans, transfer pensions, etc. A succession certificate is WIP for one of his accounts, so mom decided to stay back until it’s done. Mom has always refused to hire a maid, loves to hoard, cleans superficially, the house is always a mess when I visit and all my India trips are spent cleaning including this one. Been having trouble moving on since girlfriend ended relationship 3 weeks ago after 2+ years of dating. Before ending it she came over 3 weeks prior to basically give me a chance to work things out and we had a good discussion but then I went back into our routine and didn’t really fight for it or have serious follow up convos that we needed. Now I just have so many regrets that I let her go. I know we still love each other and left on “good” terms but can’t forgive myself for my lack of action.

Question for folks with second homes: Considering buying a vacation home but would be primarily for family use. We currently have a primary residence with a mortgage balance of ~640K, so my understanding is I could only deduct the mortgage interest on 110K of the second mortgage to stay under the 750K cap. If I were to buy the second home through an LLC, would that allow me to exceed that 750K since the expenses of the second home would be pass through expenses/income?

Sad part is,my husband shifted to ahmedabad and we decided that I will find something in a'bad/gandhinagar.But I found that there are no companies working on abinitio here.once this pandemic ends,wfh also ends,I have to shift to pune & ultimately resign.

We have motion sensor lights in my office and the sensor is far from my desk. Consequently, if I'm on a long WebEx, the lights go out and it's embarrassing. The building won't change the sensor.
