I am writing this message besides the staff group of EY GDS. Specifically Staff -1 at assurance level. I would request everyone to spare few minutes and read it -

Wanted to bring out that staff-1's are paid peanuts (3.33L CTC) please don't expect them to slog 12-13 hours. They don't have enough motivation or incentives to work that long. Seniors,AM's and Managers should be more kind and explain the work to them clearly rather than making last minute changes.

Hi Folks, my counselor informed me I am being moved from Senior 1 to Senior 2 but rating is progressing. Is that good or bad ?

Can't really share this with anyone else, so thank you fellow fish for indulging. 3 years in, finally at a point where I can comfortably work 40 hours a week the last quarter+, and still be a trusted team member and major contributor. Normal tasks and collaborations now take me a fraction of the time compared to my first couple years / others on the team. 6 YOE and my TC has also gone up a lot from low 200s last year to high 200s this year. Hope to keep this optimal mix of WLB & progression 🙏

Junior associate here, should I ask for more money if my firm is about 10-15 percent less hours but about 30 percent less pay? Why provide redlines against the original draft instead of the last turn when sending drafts to opposite counsel?! This profession makes no sense.

(First year if you can’t tell) if a contract has a date in the preamble and a separate effective date, which do you use for purposes of say scheduling contracts?

Curious as to how many deals at once is typical for a first year associate to take on (M&A, mostly private equity clients). Deal size is lower middle market and I’ve worked on deals ranging from $1-$110M. 2 deals at once is plenty for me, but it seems like my peers are able to take on more than that at once and still do fine. Maybe I’m just a slow learner/out of my league at the big law firm I’m at.

Do any real estate lawyers out there know of/can direct me to a ROFO agreement to purchase commercial property? I’m working on one now (but using a ROFO to purchase equity interests as a basis) and would like to see what other people are doing.
