I've been job hunting for a while now, and have yet to secure anything. I've made it through to the writing test a few times but haven't succeeded. I know I have the skill, but I struggle to even get an interview at most places. Should I complain to a firm's HR if the interviewers laughed at my answer during an interview? Maybe it sounded scripted but it was still heartfelt and genuine: my immigration story and how that made me appreciate the rule of law. Last year when Covid broke, I received a couple of interview calls but ignored them as I felt the organization kept me at work when other companies cut short their HR staff so I should be with them even if with no appraisal. But now, I was living in the fool's paradise when I am told to leave with no job offers in hand, car and home loan, dependent parents, expecting jobless spouse with a 3-year old kid.

Advice and/or consolation anyone? My wife and I (both above average health 30year olds) were trying for 11 months before getting pregnant and then had a week 5 early miscarriage a few months back. If the stress and surprise of just how difficult it apparently is to get pregnant wasn’t enough, the miscarriage put us over. We got back to it and have been trying for the last 2 months again, still no luck. We’re freaking out… all we want is a family. Any similar stories? Advice? 😢

It used to be the case that you could never say anything in the slightest negative about your old position/employer/etc when applying for a new job. I have had a gap in my tech résumé for a bit, as I’ve had some negative experiences (typical ones for women in technology) that have come to light in recent years to the public.
