Just recieved a offer from Western Alliance Bank for a Senior Business Analyst role. Comp 100k but the role would be in office. I currently work remote, have unlimited PTO,and a really healthy work life balance but am being underpaid tremendously. The new role seems like it does not have healthy work life balance and many red flags have already come up. I want to grow my skills and wouldn't mind being in office as I do miss being around people. How do I vet the role before accepting?

Very few SWE types work at FAANG or unicorn type companies. Most end up working in “regular” companies or as contractors
Why not say you feel like a sucker for not becoming an IB analyst and the switching to PE or VC? Or for not going to medical school and becoming a surgeon
These comparisons are like saying you feel like a sucker for not becoming a pro athlete

Nope. I’d find that path soul-suckingly dull. Money isn’t everything. And we are hardly poorly paid. You’re comparing yourself to the most highly, early paid path there is.

Not all consultants are at the comp trajectory of MBB. In fact, many are under $100k for a good number of years.
Is it too late for you to go down that route?
Not too late just 3 years or so of hard studying tho
Yeah

OP, there is a lot of survivor ship bias. Not all SWEs make the big bucks at FAANG - in fact, I think the rate of entry for boot camp types is really low.
If you're a SWE in the T2 or below, comp may be similar to consulting / biz exits.
