Actual quote from my boss: “I cannot see how anyone cannot be billing ten hours a day now.”
What a clown. Trying billing 6 hours a day with minimal work and kids running around all day while your spouse is also trying to work. I swear some people are so oblivious.
Definitely. Whatever boundaries I worked to create over the past 6-7 years have been eroded during this time. Just because I’m near my computer doesn’t mean that I have 24/7 availability.

Yeah...no it's almost all life and almost no work 😢
Yes and EVERYTHING is an “emergency” — it’s either drowning in work or nothing and getting hounded about keeping hours up 🙄
Yes completely. I feel like there is an assumption that you are home and available all the time to respond and action something immediately- including weekends. I received an email around 9am on a Saturday with a follow up around 10.30am. Didn’t see it till about 10.45am as I had a lie in from working all nighters every night during the “working week” (lol what’s that??) and just needed to catch up on sleep.
Yes. No buffer between work and home.
Absolutely. It also seems like partners are caring less about planning ahead since they believe the emergency clean-up crew is around 24-7... I am extremely grateful for my job, but I wish there was a little more room for boundaries.
God yes everyone seems like they are trying to escape their families and are just working constantly
Yes
I kind of feel like nothing has changed, but that may speak more to how things were before...
