I recently joined TCS but I was moved into very different project which was told during hiring. Also they told me for joining incentive but later after 65 days of joining they didn't give saying your business aproval got rejected. I really want to be with TCS but due to project dissatisfaction, I am looking for different job. I am not sure if I can leave the organisation soo soon(4 months) and it should not effect my carrier.

Bain & Company Hi All. I am an Energy Engineer and 3 years of experience. I want to switch to a management consultancy because I think I would be a good fit for strategy consulting and want to move into ESG/Climate Financing. I would love to interview with your team if you’re looking to hire someone with this background (happy to share more via DMs).
The purpose of this post is to also ask for referrals so please let me know if I could reach out to you for that. TIA! McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group

I'd be happy to stay at my role, comp, level but that's not how the model works. Up or out.
Even for directors? You can’t stay there?
“Once you give a f*** about your job, you’ll start stressing and suffering and it’s not worth it. We’re saving PowerPoints, not lives”
"It's not brain surgery."
Having kids and other commitments outside of work changes perspective too. Only so much bandwidth.
You worked to get to a point where you’re comfortable. & that’s what it’s all about.
Yep, I blame it on my age somewhat. I am no longer the hard charging young professional I used to be, and I’m not saying it like a bad thing. At a place where I am happy, things are comfortable, and I can finally sit back and relax. I’m sure it isn’t the case for everyone, but that is how I feel now.
Totally. I'm in my 50s and happy to park at SM a few more years until I retire.
I know others who have taken that approach. Whether they could do or not depended on whether their service line has an 'up or out' mentality.

Yes, I got thyroid disease and constant inflammation and cyst on lymphs after years of the toxic work culture and constant stress while AWM and then a following industry job in an LNG company that wanna be called PE company (full of ppl w only never having worked at PE firm but watched too much succession). I am starting a new accounting job in Tech next month that I feel really good about after a month and a half of interview process and scenario based case studies and mission and value discussion interview.
I don’t know about common but yeah I’ve seen quite a few people like that too and others who got more driven when they see the fancier side of up there
Seems to make sense to me - I want to live to work, not work to live. What’s the point of working so hard that you don’t have time to enjoy the money or the things that didn’t require money to begin with?
In professional services, there are always people above you who may try to make you part of their agenda. Those people will push you to work until you drop because they think everyone should work nonstop (like they do) to chase the almighty dollar.
Most of those people have no work/life balance, and they may not care that you don't either.
Fun Fact: It's okay that not everyone has the same goals in life and wants to own multiple vacation homes, send their kids to prestigious private schools, and take vacations regularly in the Swiss Alps. Some people just need the money and status to convince themselves that they're truly happy. Maybe some are happy but plenty are not.
Yea I am right there with you OP. I think part of it is having a family and having other priorities and other things to focus on. Don't get me wrong the raises and promotions are great and welcomed but I am very happy where I am at.
