It’s human nature. Someone smarter than me said, “work expands to fill the time available”
Also ties with what one of my non-work mentors told me early on: "if you need something done, ask a busy person."
“That’s why people that do quality work get more work and the rest get promoted” - another gem

Same. I feel like I need 50 hours of work to get done with only 40 hours to get it done in for me to be motivated to get anything done.
Well, for me it’s because there is an 80% chance that requirements for non-urgent work will change, so there is actually an incentive to delay work to the last possible moment—otherwise I’ll just have to redo it anyway and I wasted a ton of time
As a company we basically never commit to anything until it’s on fire or due the next day
As a result…I never do things until they are on fire. Why bother?
