Need more detail
I sent something to senior leadership that my manager said they were going to send and didn’t check it with the manager. I’ve been accused of doing it intentionally but it was a total careless mistake.
If he lets bygones be bygones, no. If he is still displaying anger next week, yes, tell him sweetly that what you did wasn’t intentional and you take full ownership over making sure you run things by him, but at the end of the day, it wasn’t intentional and you went back and checked with associates in your network, things like this happen. Could he please assume good intent, coz that’s the basis of our work at the firm.
No need to call it “feedback” to your manager (you don’t want him thinking you’re being hoity-toity, he would deserve it but he sounds sensitive). Once your manager and you have had this conversation, if this ever continues/comes up, you can let your ED know that you did give him feedback to assume good intent but he’s become too insecure / whatever he does in the future
Things will get better - sometimes, the best thing to do is to give time.
